NWR: Where would you move

FH and I are talking about a move to our own place finally. Thinking of maybe a small house or something out in LI. We're both from the city so we're not that familiar.....

So my question is.... What do you this is the best part of LI to move to? Where are the nicest areas to move to/ live in?

There are so many things you need to consider:

Price of house
Taxes (vary all over)
Amount of property
School districts
Proximity to the city

What exactly do you want in the house? Big yard? Basement? How many bedrooms and bathrooms?

If you can be a little more specific, we might be able to help better.

I live in Massapequa so I am biased, lol. I love it here!

Do you work in the city?
If so, I wouldn't live so far out into Suffolk.
I moved back in with my parents for a few months a couple of years ago, and commuting from Sayville was a NIGHTMARE.
That being said, I like Sayville a lot.

I think if I were going to move back to LI I would look at Babylon or Huntington. Both nice towns and close to EXPRESS trains!

Even if you wanted to go closer, Lynbrook is nice as well.

Do you have any specifics that you're looking for? There's a lot of nice tons on Long Island. Nassau? Suffolk? Big yard? Beach?etc etc

It depends..I love Bay Shore, East Islip, Islip, Babylon, Commack, Sayville, Oakdale, Great River..but those are all Suffolk.

We both work in the city but FH's job is easy to get a transfer and idk how long I'll be working in the place I am currently. We're thinking something relatively small for now.... maybe 2 bdrms in case a little one comes along . We don't really did a big yard, but at least something. And school districts are really important just yet since we don't have kids yet and we'll probably be moving again before any kids are of school age.

I would rather not be too far from the city but we are both open to travel further if we find our 'dream first home'.

Sry I feel like it's a tall order now saying it

Re: NWR: Where would you move

like the other girls said, it depends how far you want to be from the city. Suffolk might be a bit too far if you plan on commuting to the city....if you want to stay in Nassau, again it depends how far into Nassau you want to be.

Taxes can also be a determining factor. Syosset, Plainview, Jericho are beautiful areas, but the taxes are kind of high BUT the schools are great.

Rockville Centre, New Hyde Park are all nice also, and closer to the city.
