If you could do it all over, what would you be? I don't mean astronauts or movie stars, but a real job that you wish you had chosen instead.
I think I would have been either a nurse or a teacher. (NOT an accountant).
But I don't have the time or money to change that now, so it is what it is.
What would you be?
ETA: Also include what you do now!

College Lacrosse coach, fisherman, part-time photographer, hairstylist. All of which is possible, if I were independently wealthy.

I won't say a movie star (although that is what I would do all over again), but I definitely would have pursued theater arts in college.

WOW. I honestly have like 5 things I wish I pursued.
I wanted to be a vet when I was younger. I could kick myself for not sticking with it. I love animals, dogs in general, and when I think about changing jobs, I am always drawn to those that include animals. However, if you are not a vet or a trainer, it seems that any other job having to do with animals pays like shiiiit. And unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of taking a job that pays any less than I make now. I dream in the future of breeding dogs or maybe opening a doggie day care.
I also get mad at myself sometimes for not going into teaching. I thought about it for awhile, and while the summers off would be soooo nice, I tend to think that I would be bored, teaching the same cirriculum over and over again, year after year. And I love kids, but sometimes, I don't. So I honestly don't know if I could deal with Jimmy who keeps putting gum in Cindy's hair, etc. College level, maybe. And I would want to teach English.
I have dreamed of singing for a living for many, many years. I took lessons not too long ago and talked to some folks who own studios, etc. Never went further than that and now I just sing alllll the time, karaoke, etc. It is the one thing I think that I would be happy doing, but I just don't have the money or time to pursue it. Also, I think I have a good voice, but I am not sure it's good ENOUGH. I know it's very hard to break into any sort of business like that.
Right now, I am an associate producer for a production company. Most of the time it's boring because we are a start up of sorts. When it's busy, it's crazy. I do not think I really like the work, however. In a year or so, we are moving to NH. I hope to look for a job in Jan. that I do from home so that I have one when we move and I don't need to find a home and a job at the same time. Preferably, the job would be based in NH so that I could work from the office if need be.
I want to edit a magazine, newsletter, website, etc. If it's an animal-related co., that would probably be the best I could do, aside from getting paid to sing.
Another BTB who can sing!!!!! And Songstress, I think by virtue of your username you can sing!!!! And we know Heather can sing!! Now, everyone who loves singing, get together and form the LIW Brides Chorus/Choir!!!!!! Boy would I loveeeee to hear you!!!!!!!!! Do it for charity!!!!! Idea, yes?????!!!!!! Mary MOB
Hmmm interesting idea Mary! If nothing else, we should definitely get a karaoke GTG lined up.

I really regret that I didnt become a teacher At the time so many girls were majoring in education and I wanted to do something different. Little did I realize the field I chose is so hard to get a job in but the classes were interesting so I went with it. Now I work in finance, not at all what I majored in. Who thought about how covenient it would be when you have kids or how you get off weeks at a time for winter/spring break. Too bad we cant go back in time.
Wow I couldn't have said it better. I am always regretting now that I didn't become a teacher and went for finance instead. I would def. love to be off right now for the summer!

A writer. I always wanted to be a novelist but I am deathly afraid of people not liking my writing, so I never show it.

Re: NWR: Your dream job (a realistic one)
My dream jobs
1. Forensic investigator -- I love those shows!
2. Obstetrician -- I was a labor coach twice for my best friend and it was amazing. The only drawback is having to look at at hoo-has all day long (yuck)
3. I wish i was creative enough to be a novelist. Maybe write children's books?
I'm a teacher. First grade. I teach people how to read and write which is very cool but I defnitely should have gone into something else.

I would have definitely become a teacher or a vet. Unfortunately Im allergic to some animals and I cry every time an animal hurt so it couldn't happen.
I hate my current job but after the wedding I plan on going back to school to pursue my degree in teaching

Re: NWR: Your dream job (a realistic one)
I am very fortunate and (and it took hard work too) but I am doing what I love. I dreamed of working in the entertainment business, and thats where I ended up right out of college.
On the side I am a writer, and I think someday Id love to be a writer for a major magazine or newspaper. I've done freelance here and there but nothing permanent
