NWR...any hairstylists/colorists on here??

Okay so I dyed my hair black in January (my natural color is dark brown). It's been fun but now I want my hair back to dark brown with some auburn highlights or something similar to that. Can they do this? I had a hair stylist tell me that I can put lowlights in my hair but I kind of just want brown again. Anyone have advice??

I am not a hairstylist...but I do know in order to go from black to anything you need to strip the hair before coloring it (it is basically as if you wanted to go from brown to blonde). After stripping the hair they could then color it and add low lights...the process is definitely damaging to your hair so make sure you go to a good colorist and use a deep conditioning treatment. I'm a hairstylist and I can tell you black is terrible to get out. Your best bet is to get hilites with the brown until you can get the desired color. You c@an do brown and auburn hilites together. In my opinion, the hilites are the best way to go. It will grow in nicer, and if you go often enough tto get tthem done, you'll be. The color you want in no time. Also, if you were to get your hair totally stripped, if your stylist doesn't fill your hair correctly or enough, you stand the chance of fading color and brassyness. FM me if you have anymore questions,

thanks so much....yea the hairstylist i went to last told me that the highlights or lowlights (whats the difference?? haha) would be the best way to go since I went and dyed my hair black. hmmm brown and auburn highlights together huh?? that sounds like it would look nice but i wouldn't have a pic to show them...that's ok right?

Hilites are the lighter color and lolites are the darker color. The brown and auburn can be done together, depending on how she does them. There's all types of new products out there that lift and color at the same time.

When you do get the hilites, you can ask her to do a very heavy hilite so you lighten up faster. Just make sure you condition good for awhile after.
