NWR...don't understand some landlords

we went to look at an apt today. it had a nice size living room and bedroom the kitchen is small. a small kitchen table will be in the living room. its in a 3 family house. the only door in the whole place is in the bathroom!!!!! there's not even a door to the apt. its the front door then we walk up the stairs. i would be afraid to leave for work and my door won't be lock.

just because u have an extra room, that doesn't mean its rentable. we're seeing another place tomorrow...right around the corner from us. so we'll see

are you going through a broker, or just listings?

yeah- some of the people are crazy- i'll never understand the LL's that list a 3 bdrm apt, but No Kids allowed. why would a majority of people need 3 bedrooms then?

THAT was through a broker? hmm, maybe it's time for a new broker!

how can they even have the nerve to rent a place with NO DOORS!

gail-- you should check craigslist. Im not sure what your price range is, but i just checked and theres a whole bunch listed for the marine park area, alone.

i agree- i didnt think brokers were allowed to show illegal apartments. It *may* have been legal,, But, if theyre not even couteous enough to put doors on- i dont think id want to have to deal with them on a continuing basis

also- if you check listings 'by owner' then you wont have to pay the extra $$$$ for the brokers fee.

here's a 2 bdrm in MP

3 bdrm (but has brokers fee)

thanks neenie. rents r crazy. right now, we'll look for a 1 bedroom apt. dh even asked how they would feel if a baby lived there. they looked at him like he had 3 heads this other broker we're with seems better

It is illegal to have an apartment without an entrance and an exit out. We have one ourselves and it has it's own door and then they can come up through our door god forbid. My tenant is looking for a condo right now but I don't know how long until she's going to be out though.
