Like if you started a new brand and starting packing on the pounds...did you wait it out the whole month or switch ASAP???
See this happened to me with Yasmin...gained 7lbs in 3 weeks I was so upset and pissed off...so I just took myself off of it...yeah probably not to bright of me..but whatever.
So I started taking the Estrostep on Sunday and boom 2.4 GAINED in 1 freakin week!
I am thinking that its the monophasic pills that do not agree with me...
And the last time I was at the Dr. and I asked to be switched to a pill and I specifically asked :will this one make me gain weight' she made some snide remark like 'well the Yasmin shouldn't have made you gain weight and you did' Are you kidding me beoch??

Re: NWR..If you gained weight on the BCP..
I have been ont he pill for a while now. Over the years I have maybe changed brands 2 or three times for various reasons. I would imagine that any change in hormones would have an effect on weight. After a while, it should level off. Every woman on BCPs is not heavy. Give your body a chance to adjust.

I know...but I don't want to take a chance since my fittings will be in May...I am thinking I should just go back on the one I was one...which I think helped me to lose weight

You're probably retaining a little extra water since you've switched the brand...definitely let your body adjust accordingly and just limit salty foods...

Re: NWR..If you gained weight on the BCP..
I was on Yasmin and I didn't gain weight right away...it was very gradual
I just switched to estropstep...I haven't started it yet...But my doc said a lot of girls are taking this now and have done well on it. You probs are retaining water..I do too..I wouldn't freak over 2lbs...just watch what you eat and excercise! Don't forget the pill tricks your body into thinking your preggo...thats why sometime we gain water weight...
oh and btw...maybe someone can answer me this....since i was on the pill for so long i don't remember....I stopped taking the pill for a few months to jump start my weight loss (so if i gain a few lbs i wouldn't care) but when am i supposed to start taking it again...is it the week i start my period? I forget?

If you're a sunday starter, you start the sunday after you get your period and if you're a first day starter, you start the first day of your period.

Re: NWR..If you gained weight on the BCP..
I gained almost 30 lbs when I took some brand of BCP. I don't remember the brand anymore. I went from 110 to 140 in 3 months. When I told my doctor she didn't believe it was from the BCP but I asked for a different pill anyway. After switching, I quickly lost 20lbs(without diet or exercise). I'd say the weight loss happened within 2 weeks. Another bad reaction I had to BCP was with Orthro-tri-cyclin (spelling). Contrary to the advertisements it gave me terrible acne. My face was covered in cystic acne and I have terrible scars. The doctor suggested that I use it for 3 months and she said the acne should go away by then. It only went away after I stopped taking the pill. The last one I took was Yasmine and I did not gain any wieght on it, in fact I think I lost a few, maybe 3 lbs. But I did not have a pleasant experience. I was very irritable, I felt nauseaus every morning, I was tired all the time and one time I fainted. Unfortunately I didn't see the connection between the symptoms and the BCP until I fainted. I stopped taking the pill and I'm feeling 100% better. My point is that Different people have different reactions to BCP's you just need to find the right brand for you. Many women say that Yasmin doesn't make you gain weight. For other, this brand has the opposite effect. If you know your BCP is giving you bad side effects you should stop taking it. THere are so many different brands out there that have different levels of hormones. There must be one that works with your body chemisty. Unfortunately I have not been able to find one that works for me. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor for a different pill, even if the doctor is acting like a beoch. Its your body and you need to find something that works for you. IF your doctor can't provide you with the proper kind of medical support you deserve, you should get a new doctor. Good luck in finding a pill that works for you!

I've been taking estrostep for years and never had any problems. Perhaps your body is very sensitive to the hormone changes. It's robably just water weight. Hopefully you'll lose it after your body adjusts.

I started taking yasmin about 3 months ago and I haven't gained any weight. Everyone's body reacts differently, I'm sure you will get back to your normal weight soon

Wow... I had the same experience on Yasmin!! I lost weight and I fainted 2 times in the shower. I also felt terrible all the time. I had a hard time with Ortho Tri Cyclin too, although that was more emotional then physical but I gained a ton of weight on it. I agree all pills have different effects on different people, but I decided to go off for awhile to let my body go back to normal and I feel so much better. Good luck finding the right pill for you. If you had a good experience on the last pill maybe you should just go back to that.

I feel like that Ortho Tri Lo was ok for me weight wise but made me a raging beoch and just too emotional

Re: NWR..If you gained weight on the BCP..
Kathleen, the lo did the same for me, although I'm on the regular ortho & I'm fine. I don't recall any weight gain, although I been on the pill for about 10 yrs. I only changed maybe 2ce.
I too think you need to have your body get used to a new pill.

Re: NWR..If you gained weight on the BCP..
I was on Yasmin for a year and I did gain weight gradually especially in my chest. I started out as a size 6 with small c to a size 10 with almost double Ds. The doctor said it wasn't related, but as soon as I went off of it, in October 2005, I lost 15 pounds in 6 weeks. I have been working out and I am now back to my size 6 clothes.
