NWR:passport

1-why does it say that you have to list where you are going and when you are going on your passport application? this may be a stupid question--but i was just wondering!!

2-how do you add your married name to the passport? is there a fee and how hard is it?

i have yet to change my license and sscard i love my maiden name!!!
3-so i am wondering if i should just get my passport in my maiden name right now and then change it before my next vacation---but i don't want it to take long or cost a fortune!!!

it was recently announced that you need a passport to go basically anywhere, now you can't even go the bahamas w/o a passport...so i had to get one for our HM...as for fees, i was told it only costs $40 to change your name as long as you do it within one year of getting it. as for the request of travel plans, you don't have to fill it out

according to their website, you need to send away a copy of your marriage cert. along with 2 new pics and your passport and they will send you another one for free as long as it is within a year.

to get a copy of the marriage cert is $10 - you should never send away your original.

My advice to you would be to make sure that all of your id has the same name on it!! Travel is getting very stringent these days and you do not want to have one name on your passport an another on your drivers lic., etc.

I am not so sure what I'm doing with my name yet but for now, I am not doing anything so that I dont have any issues traveling...

If you know where you're going just fill it in then - no harm, no issues! If you don't, then leave it -

They ask these questions in attempt to track people who, let's say, don't have the best intentions... you know - bad guys

NO...a pasport is NOT needed for P.R...it's part of the u.s. ( just as a passport is not necessary for u.s. virgin islands)
