NWRR.... Anyone use a nightguard custom made by a DDS?

Strange question, I know.

I just picked mine (night guard to prevent grinding) up yesterday and tried to wear it to sleep last night.

Its REALLY tight on my teeth! I feel like when I pull it out, Im going to rip all of my teeth out.

Is this normal? How snug should it fit on your teeth?

I cant tell, I slept with it for two hours and then had almost a panic attack that it was going to rip my teeth out, so I took it out and slept without it the rest of the night. Not good for a $300 purchase!!

I'll keep you posted though!

FH has one, he doesn't seem to have a tough time removing it. I would tell the dentist asap so he can have it adjusted/redone.

One more thing we have in common Mel I got a nightguard 2 months ago. It is kind of tight but not too bad. You will get used to it, just give it a few nights and it will stretch to fit you. Does your's look like an invisiline brace and fit right over your teeth (that's the one I have).

I wore one for awhile but got sick of it...I remember it being tight but feeling like your teeth are getting ripped out is something else! Do you know if you have the kind where running it under hot water loosens it so you can reshape it a little? I remember mine was like that, you might be able to work with it a little that way. If it doesn't get better I would definitely see the dentist - if it's not comfortable you probably won't stick with it! HTH
