NWR...........Snoring

Original post by woobie113007

OKay so..........
FH snores like crazy. Drives me insane sometimes I have to get up and sleep on the couch..........and no joke, I have ear plugs too that I wear but I lost 1.
Does anyone know if those strip things that you put across your nose work? I was thinking of getting them for him but dont want to if they dont work.
What else can he do? Should he go to the DR or soemthing? When I say its loud, I mean its LOUD!!
It gets 10 times worse though when he drinks.

My FhH is EXACTLY the same. We tried the Breathe Right strips and they did NOTHING! I told him he'd better go to the Dr or we'll be sleeping in separate rooms!

OMG...I feel your pain. My DH refuses to believe he snores! I have woken him up many times and told him either roll over or I'm going to smother you!
It's so bad, I actually bought the strips and put them on him while he was sleeping. He would wake up in the morning like 'what the hell is on my nose'
Now he puts them on before bed....sometimes they work sometimes they don't.
I'm definitely going to look into the surgery for him.

Are you sure we're not marrying the same person? LOL He should see a doctor. Even though he's not awake, he's definitely not sleeping well, and neither are you. Jack (my FH) tried the nosestrips but they didn't help much (and I tried earplugs! Argh!). Vicks under the nose helps a little, and so might a humidifier. Does he need to lose weight? That would definitely improve his breathing at night. But honestly? Talk to a doctor. You want to make sure he's not suffering from sleep apnea.

yes i've also noticed since FH gained a few pounds its gotten worse.

I got the same problem with FH. I have bought all the products over the counter for him. The strips, the mouth gargle, snore spray, and even a nose clip that is supposed to work. They all work to an extent. It definitely lightens the sound but doesn't stop it completely. I have ear plugs too! But I can still hear his snoring. We went to the dr. They said it may be sleep apnea, but his insurance won't cover the testing. The Dr. also said that losing weight will help. So, we are doing that, both of course with the wedding coming up. If that doesn't change, hopefully after we are married he can get some kind of medical treatment.

You can try the breathe right strips to see if they work because they worked for my mom. Is he overweight? If so, that could also be it and losing a little might help.

If not and it's really bad, you should consider taking him to the doctor to get checked for sleep apnea. A friend of mine couldn't sleep next to her husband for years because he snored so loud. He was finally diagnosed with sleep apnea. He was told that he can either lose weight (he was overweight) and he refused to do so, so they put him on a machine that helps regulate his breathing and it is SOOO much better now.
