NY City Hall Wedding

Hi Everyone..I was a big poster on this site a few years ago. I almost got married but made the decision not to only a couple of weeks before the wedding. I made a lot of friends on this site and everyone was always really helpful.

Well now Im back because I finally found the person I am going to spend the rest of my life with..the thing is..we want to get married at City Hall..mainly because he is in the Army and we want to get married when hes home for his Christmas break.

My question is..what am I supposed to wear?? Am I supposed to wear a dress? A gown? just regular clothes?? Is he supposed to wear a suit?? We obviously dont plan on doing anything fancy but I just realized I have no clue what people wear when they get married at City Hall.

Congratulations on your engagement! My mother was recently at her friend's wedding at City Hall and she said the brides' attire really varied. Some girls were wearing gowns, some were wearing casual white dresses, and others were wearing casual clothing that didn't resemble wedding attire at all. I think it's really up to you. If you're going out afterwards for a small celebration maybe you want to wear a pretty white dress and have FH wear a nice suit?

I'm sure the people at city hall has seen everything so what ever you decide to wear will not be new to them. It really depends on what you want. Will there be any family members/ friends there? Some people take their wedding pictures afterwards. If you're going to do that then maybe a casual wedding gown for the wedding pictures. I think winter pictures in the city will be beautiful.

Oh check out this issue of new york weddings. . they have all these pics of couples who got married at city hall and they are a range from super casual - to nice dresses. . just scanned it wasnt really checking for fashion but I think you can wear whatever you want to look nice. .even informal . it's still your day!

Yes, congrats...........I am not so much help but I would wear a beautiful dress but not a gown, gown. I would think FH should wear a suit.
Wear what you are most comfortable in. This is your once in a lifetime day.

You should update the avatar wedding date to your new date. The dog is cute.
