NYC restaurant help I was considering Jekyll and Hyde
Or a similar venue.
I would like to take my family to a fun, upbeat place that will wow them and rock their socks.
Priced reasonably, like up to 50$ a person.
Any suggestions?
TIA

J&H is a fun place and original. The prices are reasonable and food consistant.

Carmines is a great place for sure, but my entire fam has been there over there many trips to visit.
Maybe J & H is the best way to go!

i think Jekyll and Hyde is a fun place...and if you're looking for that wow factor, thats probably a good idea. But i think the food is not that good (expected i would assume) and i also think it is more geared towards kids. thats where we go to bring our little cousins for a special surprise. Along the same themed restaurant line, you could also try motown cafe, Mars 1212, espn zone. Or take them to Madam Tussauds wax museum in times square and then go to a regular restaurant in the area, like chevys or bubba gumps for dinner.

You are right, times square has a lot to offer! We have been to all of those places.
But they are all great suggestions.

I think there is a diner called Ellen's Stardust diner near Times Square - all the waiters and waitresses are aspiring actors and actresses and they sing while they're working - all old songs from like the 50s and 60s...
They stand on the booths and tables and such and sing! It's really, really cute and fun and nostalgic...

FH and I have been there, but my family hasn't. We have all done the tourist times square things. My family has visited a lot over the last 12 years.
I don't do manhattan anymore, at all really.
I am completely out of the loop!

All I can say is YUCK! FH & I went there a few months ago cuz we were at a broadway show across the street. It was DIRTY, food was gross and there's kids everywhere and they're all crying cuz they're scared of the aliens that walk around!
J&H is a much better choice!

Ditto for Ellen's Stardust....It's really cool to watch the servers just start singing....very New York. And the Motown Cafe is long gone so don't try looking for it!!!! Dicks Last Resort needs to open a place here in the city....The one in Boston, rocks!
