NYC Teachers

What will it take for us to have a snow day?? I've been working in the city for almost 4 yrs and NOT ONE snow day!!! How many inches does it have to snow in order for them to have a delayed opening or snow day?? Its ridiculous and dangerous for me to be driving from LI to the city... ughhhhh

Here is some interesting info I found

'NYC public schools have not been closed for 'snow days' in years. Even after the city received 26.9' of snow on 2/13/06, the schools remained opened. Will NYC close public schools this winter due to snow?'

Haha, this doesn't seem promising! But, maybe Bloomberg can be nice! Regardless...I think I am declaring my own official snow day. I don't want to risk my safety by driving 40 miles to work.

2010 - LI teacher here

I feel really bad for you girls if you don't get a snow day. Last year I worked in the South Bronx and I was so glad that I am not there this year because otherwise, I would have been trekking there in the snow. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you girls.
