I am always hearing of people going to street fairs, movies, plays and so much other stuff for free in the city in the summer. Anyone know how where I can get info about stuff like this?
Ive been to a few movie premieres for free...but they are a hassle as you have to be on a special list and they sort of make you wait around for a long time.
Street fairs are fun but they are not free really. I mean, you can see them for free but the fairs are just hundreds of booths selling you stuff.
Not free but pretty cheap are the NY Waterways and SI Ferry rides. Those are great site seeing things that you can do for practically nothing.
Central Park is free and there are lots of free concerts and events all summer long. There was just Opera in the Park a few weeks ago. Shakespeare in teh Park is free (i think) but you have to wait in long lines to get tickets.
You can go see the David Letterman SHow, Conan Show or Daily Show for free if you are willing to wait on long lines or make plans very far ahead of time.
Hmm...thats all I can think of :D

Go see Conan at NBC!! I used to work there and it is soooooooooo much fun....he does a hysterical pre-show for the audience. You don't need to request tix that far in advance either. Call 212-664-3056
SNL is really the show to see but it is close to impossible to get tix for that!

Wanda, Central Park Summer Stage have concerts all the time and most of them are free. You can check out the website. My Stepson works there. They have the schedule of all the artist and all the donations for any show that requires one.

even just walking across the brooklyn bridge is fun....theres a great piza place on the brooklyn side too!

There are free movies in Bryant Park in the summer. I don't know the schedule though. I am sure you can find it on city search.

Wanda, if you ever want to learn abou the brownstones in Bklyn, and all the landmarks in Bedstuy, Roger and I was in the neighborhood last Saturday, doing some vol work and they gave us a map, of all the tours etc. They point out all the historical bldgs, theaters etc
