Morning ladies!

Probably since I met FIL's I've been trying to make a good impression and impress them. It's important to me that FH's family likes me. FMIL told me as long as I make FH happy, that is all that matters to them all.

My question: For those who have met FIL's. When you met them for the first time or when you see them do you ever try to go out of your way to impress them?

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't mean like act like you were different. I meant did you dress up a bit? Bring them a bottle of wine? Something like that.

I was a quieter version of myself, which was perfect, because they're not what I would call 'listeners.'

I met FH's dad the morning after the first time I stayed over (he lived at home at the time). He insisted on taking us out to breakfast, which I though was the most awkward thing ever, and FH saw nothing wrong with it. All I could think was 'what is wrong with these people, don't they think this is strange?!' But other then being red in the face, nope, nothing extra.

His parents are separated, and I actually didn't know his mom was in the picture until several months after we started seeing each other (I didn't ask because I didn't know if it was a sensitive subject) when he invited me to a holiday dinner at her house. I brought a cheesecake and made sure I wore something very nice and his mother didn't say much to me. I was kind of quiet, again.

The kicker was when, at the same dinner, his sister came over to introduce herself. I wasn't aware of her, either, and I just remember her talking about twilight (she's older). I felt no need to impress a 28 year old twihard, so nope.

I met FHs parents randomly when I came over his house one day while he was still living there. I was not prepared and they seemed underwhelmed lol!
