Is anyone else getting completely unsolicited questions about how much weight they want to lose? I have a coworker who has become obsessed with this topic. She asks me everyday if I am going to the gym. Today she said to me earnestly 'You have to start now. You can't wait until two months before. It'll be too late. You have to start now and do it religiously.' Once a coworker offered me a cookie and she practically ripped the girl's head off and screamed 'No! We have to get her nice and slim before the wedding!' Another time she saw me eating something and shook her head and said 'someone has GOT to help this girl.' I can't stand it.
Now here is the even weirder part...I'm not overweight. Sure I could stand to lose 10 pounds. I would love to. But I bought my wedding dress in a size eight for god's sake! What is her deal? Is anyone else getting this from people? It is starting to get to me.

I would just politely say the next time she says something that you know she means well but you really don't appreciate her comments and are perfectly happy w/ your body (and you should be! at your size you are perfectly healthy!)

Amen to that. I would nicely tell her that she's being very rude with her comments - regardless of WHEN they tell you, no one should EVER say 'you need to lose weight' unless it's your doctor or your mom in my opinion
My god, how rude can people be???

you are nicer than me.. I'd tell her to eff off! That is so rude... even if you were 900 pounds, people need to mind their business!

You sure that is not my FMIL you are talking about. In the beginning, she would say to me 'you sure you want to eat that'? 'We all have to lose weight before the wedding'.
Dude, I am a size 4/6. I have lost 60lbs and went down from a size 16. I DONT need to watch what I eat.

Re: Obnoxious people rant
People are so rude. I was at an RH a month ago checking out the place and sitting with the Banquet Manager. She asked if I got a dress yet...and I said I wont step in a store until I lose weight. She just laughed and said I was being silly...to be polite. And my mom turns around and replies...'oh, no she does need to lose.' I was horrified!!!

Hi woodlands bride! Seriously, that is insane. A size 8 in a Bridal Gown? Which usually runs small. Are you kidding?

Let me sum this up for you: SHE'S JEALOUS!!
My FMIL does this to me constantly...I am NOT overweight, but she loves to make me think that I am. Don't sweat it.

Re: Obnoxious people rant
I have heard the same stuff too, and I am a size 2 and very petite! I have had people ask me if I am going to get a trainer so I can 'get in shape for the big day' (sorry, already athletic, why do I need a trainer all of a sudden?) and how much I plan to lose before the wedding (nothing at all!).
And the comments have gone beyond weight -- people think my getting married is an invitation for them to tell me what I should all of a sudden do to 'fix' myself. Like all of a sudden my teeth need to be whitened (no they don't!), or I need an expensive set of spa facials, or I should grow my hair really long even though it has been the same great length for years.

See, I'm really overweight, and no one mentioned it at all. I guess the key is to gain 60 lbs. so people will shut up.

Re: Obnoxious people rant
I would sarcastically tell her you plan on becoming anorexic or bulemic two months before the wedding.
I always give people stupid answers when they ask stupid questions. Ive actually told a few people this myself and they get so twisted they freak out and usually leave you alone.

Re: Obnoxious people rant
This woman is simply bitter and jealous.
Just say,
Thank you for your unsolicited advice. I really appreciate your pointing out that I am in no way fit to marry in my current shape. I am thankful to have found a man who must be so close to blind that he can tolerate my unsightly body. I'll look into getting my jaw wired shut. Unfortunately, then I won't be able to give you weight loss updates every day.
