so we're having our wedding mid october on the ocean.. we don't want a beach theme but i'm still thinking of using shells as placecard holders. do you girls think that it's inappropriate because of the month? i'm torn because its fall but yet i can't ignore the fact that it's still on the beach..

I don't think it's inappropriate - there are still shells on the beach in the fall

Re: october
Hmmmm i wonder if 'sea glass' would work for you? You can buy it in lots of different colors, and it might not be so 'beachy'?

If your wedding is on the beach, shells will be fine

Re: october
I am probably the LEAST crafty person in the world, but I'm sure someone on these boards will have an idea or two...
The pic is a votive holder filled with seaglass which might be a nice place card holder, (heavy! so the shore breezes won't blow them away!!)
There are shells on the beach year 'round. Go for it!
You could do a beach theme on New Year's Eve if you wanted to - it's YOUR day!

Re: october
I think it is a good idea. Beaches still have seashells in October and like you said you can't ignore that it is on a beach!!!!

Re: october
Ya know what may be nice too? Alternating the shells with those smooth sea rocks... You can write on the rocks the same way you can with the shells - and it'll mix it up a bit too :)
