Of course one of my SIL's is NOT coming to my shower

Why should my MIL and both SILs ever atttend something for me at the same time? One missed my bridal shower (after my mom changed the date to work around her schedule) and now the other has to work, even though she has the weekend before and weekend after off. And the best is she is a Nurse and could have given me my insilin shot without any problem during the shower and now, of course, she just cannot work it out to come so I have to figure out something else. (I ice the area for 20 minutes before I can do the shot myself so with her there she could have just done it quick and painless)
Honestly, I am really pi$$ed. And she calls my husband, not my mom who sent the invite saying that 'she cannot find the invite'. I just don't think that she wanted to actually tell my mom that she isn't coming.
I said from Day 1 that since she came to the bridal shower she would blow off the baby shower and I was 100% right. Mind you, I am the ONLY person in her immediate family who even gave her a wedding gift after she eloped. Whatever, I now can easily blow-off her baby shower this winter without feeling ANY guilt.

Oh, I KNEW something was up because she called him twice in 3 days and NEVER does that. heck, she cannot even bother to call on our birthdays let alone just to say Hi.

oh michele - sorry you have to feel this way. even though you knew to prepare for disappointment, it doesn't stump the hurt at all and the frustration.

Do yourself a favor. Don't reach out in that direction anymore. Do what is necessary to keep peace of course with your husband and his family, but don't bother giving any more 'special michele'. I learned this lesson a long time ago. Some people you just cannot expect to reciprocate in the same way you would.

Your shower will be amazing - don't you worry.

Michele it is most definately her loss!! I hope that you have the best shower ever and everyone talks about it for a long time, especially when she is around!!!

I am not upset that she isn't coming- we aren't that close- but I was really hoping she could help me with the shot since she is a Nurse AND I am pi$$ed that they never think that anything is important in terms of family stuff. That is just not how my family works at all. We celebrate together.

So now I am off the hook about going to her shower.

What a disappointment! And how totally selfish - I am sorry - when it is family you make time for events!

Can you somehow have someone else help you with your shot?

I am sorry if this may sound stupid, but can you maybe 'tape' an icepak to the area for 20 min while you are enjoying your shower?

I am going to put the ice pack on my leg before I walk into the shower. I can do the shot myself (since I do them myself most of the time) but if she was there, she could have done it quickly for me in my arm (I use my thigh). Whatever, I can never count on them for anything, except that his mother will watch Beemer for us when we ask her too.
