Off White Gown - What Color Shirt for Groom?

Off White Gown - What Color Shirt for Groom?

We finally went tuxedo shopping this evening...
If I had known matching stuff to an off white gown was going to be so difficult, I might have chosen a different color. Grrrrr! Sigh

- sorry for the vent.

Anyways, the current dilemma is that my gown is off white and tuxedo shirts seem to Only come in white or ivory (like everything else wedding related).

I'm guessing that ivory is the better choice, yes? What are other off white gown ladies doing for their grooms?

Yeah i heard that if your gown is off white, that the groom should wear an off white shirt so your dress doesnt look dirty. My gown is off white, so my FH will wear an off white shirt to blend in.

Have you found an off white tuxedo shirt anywhere?

The store I went to tonight said they don't really make off white shirts and I haven't had much luck searching online.

i'm wondering the same thing.... my gown is 'diamond white' so its not white-white, but its not ivory either. I have no clue what to go with.

I can't tell!! Looks like the same color to me.

If you gown is very ivory or creamy you should get an ivory tux shirt, but off-white is close enough to get a regular white shirt. I don't think any shop we went to had off-white. It was either ivory or white.

My gown was off-white and DH wore an ivory shirt. When I brought my dress swatch into the tux store the white shirt was too white against my dress. The ivory was a little darker, but I decided to do that than show off my gown wasn't a pure white.

check around at diffrent tux stores some of the better stores do carry off white or you might want to buy it and you will have a better choice. A good mens clothing store will carry tux shirts , you don't have to rent everything.

DH wore off white, but it wasn't a 'tuxedo' shirt. They should defintely carry a variety of shirts from you to choose from.

hey jessica!! i can't believe how close your day is!! yeah!!!

We actually went tux shopping last week and my dress is the same--not ivory but not white and fh is going to wear an ivory shirt and vest and tie. i liked the ivory on him better and if he does white, i think you'll see the difference more. good luck!

I would go with Ivory over white for the tux shirt. My dress is off-white and thats what we are doing.

We are doing similar. My dress is off-white and the vest that he likes is a light ivory with touch of white in it (paisley) so he will wear white shirt and matching ivory tie to the vest.

my gown was ivory, but i thought the off-white shirts looked dingy so my DH wore a white shirt with an ivory vest. but, you can barely see the difference in the pictures. I think you could do either white or ivory and both would look good. most ivory dresses look white in pictures unless you have a really dark ivory
