Ok - here are some thoughts on the VH. It was my matron of honor so i know she definitely did not purchase the candles, the WM provided them outside. I cant even describe the amount of food they had out there - ice cream, every dessert imaginable, cookies, fruit. Everyone was blown away by the selection. I thought it was so nice going back outside to the patio. Here is something else to think about - this wedding was on a sunday and ended at 12 b/c of the VH. The bride decided to have the VH open at 10:30, thinking that people might leave early b/c of work the next day. A lot of people left right after( maybe they thought it was over) and everyone was really outside. There were a few of us inside still dancing. Hope this helps. Ill find out if she has any pics...
The bridal showcase was a lot of fun last time. This time i'll bring more people, like the FMIL and if any of the bridesmaids want to go (so I can get their opinion on things). I haven't eaten at the restaurant but the fingerfoods they served were AWESOME and if THOSE were good, then I can only imagine how the regular food tates.
The VH is an add-on, correct? Is it very expensive? Side note: I have a feeling i'm going to end up with a giant roast pig for the cocktail hour because my dad practically fell in love with it. LOL
Random question: are you allowed to request which Banquet Manager you want? Because I totally want that little Argentinian girl. She's a little ball of energy!

I cant wait to go to that showcase. They treat people like royalty on a regular day , I can imagine what they do for us on that day and on your wedding day? What should we expect from the showcase? Anything that came out at you last time you went? How is the place set up for that. WHy couldnt it be earlier?

Well, they gave us champagne when you entered, and they TOTALLY kissed your butt ! LOL I noticed that the house vendors I spoke to wouldn't give me a quote on the spot, they wanted to make appointments instead. Which, ok, I guess is fair, but I was kinda like 'Your here, I'm here...why can't we talk now?' There are tables EEEEEVERYwhere...in all of the rooms. Waiters walk around with little finger foods (grilled cheese bites are to die for! LOL) Just be really careful because they don't tell you if the food just came out of the oven. I bit into something cheesy and hot that burned like H*LL! The two things that really stood out (for me at least) were the cigar rollers and the BMs with pictures of all the things you can add onto your menu (as if you didn't already have enough food!!). Everyone was SO nice and SO helpful. It was really alot of fun. :) Oh now i can't WAIT to go!!!
Westbury Manor bride here! So excited and so loving the place. When we went to book the place I cried! The place has such a warm feeling and EVERYBODY is nice!

I hear you. I cried too. Every time I drop off a payment, yup...I cry. LOL I'm such a wuss. Seriously, don't you just want to hug everyone when you're there? I think all the WBM brides should have a mini get-together there. LOL Yaaaay!
I just got a letter from WM about The Wedding & Event Studio, which provide us our own wedding planner/coordinator. Its pretty nice that the WM provides something like that to help and its complimentary. Has anyone visiting the showroom in Carle Place. Are you going to go through with it and have a coordinator for your wedding. At first I was like no I dont want a planner bec I want to make my own decisions along the my FH but I will visit and see what its like.

Wait, what? What's The Wedding & Event studio? And it's seriously complimentary from the WBM? So cool! I wasn't going to use a coordinator, but sheesh, if the WBM is just going to hand them out... LOL If you go, please share what you find out. :)
YAY!!! I've been waiting for someone to do this!!! I would have if it weren't for my laziness.
I'm from NY, but am currently in stinking Boston for school. So We did all our reception hall research online...and quickly realized that we LOVED WM. So we made a trip down and just hoped that it wasn't one of those places that only look good in pictures. It wasn't....it was gorgeous. We didn't bother looking anywhere else.
I won't be able to make it down for the showcase so everyone PLEEEEAAAASE write all about it!!!
I have the same problem! I'm in Pittsburgh right now at school and have my spring break the week before the showcase, i'm so upset i'm going to miss it! I still want to stop by the WM when I'm home though just because I love it there!!
I went reception hall 'shopping' while I was home for Christmas break with my mom... then my fiance, who's from Pittsburgh, came to NY for New Years and I brought him to my favs and we decided on WM right away! Before he went back to Pittsburgh we ate at the Polo Lounge... and omg it was amazing!! I didn't think it was possible, but after eating there I was even more excited about the wedding!
I actually have an appointment with the Wedding and Event Studio when i'm home in 2 weeks... I wasn't sure either if I wanted to use them, and I've already booked a few things up on my own, but I figured I'd at least takl to them and see what they are like. They might be helpful since I'm away at school most of the time... hopefully it will go well! I'll let everyone know how it goes!
Will you guys be attending your CH or are you going to be hiding out until the reception?? I dont want to miss my CH, I want to see how everything will be displayed, etc

I really want to make my grand entrance during the dinner rreception but like you I want to see the display of CH especially since mine will be outside so I'm still thinking about this one. I might attend the 1st half hour.
Has anyone seen or tasted that cakes that WM offers yet? There are so many combos to choose from....which one is best!?
I saw pictures in their cake portfolio and I wasn't entirely impressed. I'll talk to their baker, but i'll probably go with someone else. I already have the cake I want in mind...I just need to figure out what it's going to taste like. :)
Yeah I have been hearing that the cakes are not so great there. Whats up with that? You would think they would be amazing because everything else is. What are the flowers, does anyone know. I have not seen their cake portfolio yet, I will prob look at it at the showcase. They have a house bakery. I have some cakes that I loveeee also, look in my album there is a cake that a past bride had and it looked amazing. DO you guys have any pics of WM cakes.
Apparently Erga's (spelling?) Bakery in Bethpage does their cakes. I'm not finding very good reviews on LIW. I'm going to check with Dortoni's and Madame Butterfly in Babylon first. I hear Dortoni's is fab and I briefly met the woman that owns M.Butterfly and she is SO nice and outrageously talented.
If you use an outside bakery for the cake, what happens to the cake that comes with your package? Do they deduct that from your total....or would you just be buying another cake on top of price you were quoted?
I would love to get a cake from an asian bakery in flushing.....asian cakes tend to be less sweet, more spongey, moist and stuffed full of fresh fruits...it's SOOOO good.
Hello 08' Ladies....I decided to make this my first post on LIW, My name is Monica, and Im a Manor Bride as well, July 2008!
I choose The Manor after a friend of mine on LIW (Kdrainey..hi Katrina!) suggested I go and look at it. I was orginally in love with Jericho Terrace but on my third visit had a bad experience and changed my mind. Me and FH fell in LOVE with WM the moment we walked in!! The run down...Our BM is Mel David, we are using the Manor room for the reception and the gardens for the cocktail hour, we were at the last showcase and want exclusive-at-the sweetheart table-only rights to the mashed potato bar ( ) And plan on going to the next showcase with our maid of honor and best man. And did someone say something about a roast pig????

I was told you can go to Erga's bakery for a tasting...you just tell them youre a Westbury Manor bride. I'm hoping and praying they can make a Red Velvet cake for me.
