If you use an outside bakery for the cake, what happens to the cake that comes with your package? Do they deduct that from your total....or would you just be buying another cake on top of price you were quoted?

I would love to get a cake from an asian bakery in flushing.....asian cakes tend to be less sweet, more spongey, moist and stuffed full of fresh fruits...it's SOOOO good.

I had asked my BM that question and she said there were no deductions if I chose to purchase my own cake. I plan on having an additional cake from my culture made to have them boxed and given away as part of my favors.

Really there are no deductions, thats not good. Well I will see what cakes they have, I feel the cake is the most important part (even though you may not even get to eat it, lol). It has to be perfect. I will also see if they can negociate something.

Do you guys know where WM has their place card table. You know everytime I am there I blank out and forget to ask questions that I want to ask. I did not even think of asking about the placecard table. Do you think in the library? That is a cool place. Do they have a piano? I thought I saw one . I may want to put it on the piano while someone is playing? Do they offer you a piano player????

there is one in the polo lounge, but i dont' know if they roll it out. I would love it if they would though....my dad is a classical pianist and i'd love for him to play something during the ceremony

My BM is Mel... he's is very nice, I know he will do a good job making sure everything is perfect for our wedding! When we went back to officially book up the hall, he told me I had nothing to worry about and that he would take very good care of me!

Hello 08' Ladies....I decided to make this my first post on LIW, My name is Monica, and Im a Manor Bride as well, July 2008!

I choose The Manor after a friend of mine on LIW (Kdrainey..hi Katrina!) suggested I go and look at it. I was orginally in love with Jericho Terrace but on my third visit had a bad experience and changed my mind. Me and FH fell in LOVE with WM the moment we walked in!! The run down...Our BM is Mel David, we are using the Manor room for the reception and the gardens for the cocktail hour, we were at the last showcase and want exclusive-at-the sweetheart table-only rights to the mashed potato bar ( ) And plan on going to the next showcase with our maid of honor and best man. And did someone say something about a roast pig????

Welcome Monica!! And congrats!!! Mel booked me too...isn't he the nicest cutest little old guy ever?? LOL

Yes honey, there IS a roast pig for the cocktail hour. Here's what the little add-on flyer says: Suckling Pig - Marinated and slowly roasted by our Chef and served on a bed of seasoned green rice with tropical fruit and homemade apple sauce $300ea. ::DROOOOOL::

Oh and speaking of cakes here's my latest two cents. I think I may have mentioned a while ago that my second job is a pastry chef. Okay so I work at The Carltun nightly, and we had this bride last night (I hope she doesn't read this. LOL) that brought in a cake from Audreys. Well, I dunno, somehow a little slice of cake found me (I plead the 5th!). OH MY GOD....this was the most UNBELIEVABLY delicious cake I have ever had in my life. It had like a strawberry jam sort of layer, and a chocolate mousse layer. I'm not sure if the icing was buttercream or whipped cream because it had a lot of powdered sugar and maybe some shortening in it, but it wasn't bad. But the cake itself was so moist and SO SO tasty, it had almost like a buttermilk flavor, but not sour. Guys seriously, this cake was SO awesome, not to mention beautifully decorated. Audrey's is definitely in my Top Three to call.

Okay that was more like 5 or 6 cents from me. LOL Enjoy your day!

Jess

are you guys adding viennese hour? do u know how much it is. i'm doing all this research for my cousins who lives out of state! how do u feel aout a sunday evening wedding? would you do a july or sept/oct? shes trying to figure out with dates b4 they get booked. what was the amount for the deposit?

She has to hurry and book the WM if she really loves it because when I went about the starting of the month almost all the dates in June were booked and most of July and some of May and now that people got engaged on valentines day they are prob all booked up. We booked for June 1 of 08, that is a Sunday night wedding. We wanted Sat but it was not worth the extra money. We have the Manor room and my BM is Susan, she is just sooo filled with energy, very cute lady. We are having the the full Vienesse Hour outside. Your cousin should get that bec that is what people look forward to and it is soooo worth it. And I go so many free add ons and I am also adding the candy bar and seafood boat. I want to go all out bec it only happens once HTH

If she wants to do the vianese hour, I think she should probably have a friday night wedding... because alot of people may have to work on monday morning and might leave early from a sunday evening wedding and miss the vianese hour

Monica, yeah I really want the candy bar. I asked my BM if I can set it up myself and then she told me that they can set up a candy bar themselves but its $5.00 pp, which is not bad. She said the candy bar display is displayed soooooooo beautiful that it will be a hit. I cant wait to see it in pics at the showcase
