First, welcome to the FH family Jen!

Stephanie, I will definitely keep you posted about the Best Western. I have never been there but have heard nothing bad about it. I am honestly a little worried that some of my guests won't want to pay $199 per night to stay at Fox Hollow.

Also, ladies, are you responsible for paying for the rooms if 50% are not booked? My contract for the hotel says something to that effect.

thanks hollie..i too do not feel my guests would be willing to pay so much..some have already mentioned hiring a driver instead....

and to answer your question..based on your contract if you do not book what you reserved you are responsible for paying for some balance of the rooms.. i am not sure how it works...you should check with them....

Two comments and a question:

First, welcome to prunepie! FH is great but def take ChristineAE's suggestion and set a budget. Chances are you'll run over, esp if your numbers are off but it'll help keep you from going too high. I have a whole Excel spreadsheet worked out!

Second, I recommend the Wingate in Garden City- they are a little far but 149 per night (for my Feb guests) and I'm going to book their 14 pass van service for after my wedding (limo bus for the morning). They are amazing and very accomidating and any unbooked rooms go for general sale a month before your wedding- no liability for you. They have one large bridal suite that can sleep 6 and this is where I'll stay with my BM, where we'll get ready and eat and then have an after party. FH and I are getting a smaller suite just for us later!

Now, my question is: Do you think it's a waste to have candles in my CP and on the tables for a morning recption in the garden terrace? I really want candles but not if they'll be a waste! If they are only moderately effective that's still OK...

Geez- I have to start to type less!!

Re: Official '06 Fox Hollow Thread...

I contacted the Best Western/Executive Inn. They quoted me $99 per night for a King size bed with no financial responsibility if the rooms aren't booked. I am going to block out rooms there, since FH is unwilling (as of right now... FH is waiting for them to call him back) to bend on the price. I was able to get them down to $190 a night but I feel this is too steep for a Sunday in January.

We just did the Inn, and we know it's rather expensive, but we didn't want to book at more than one hotel and have to worry about how people will get back and forth.

Chris-

I am waiting for the woman to email me back, but the executive inn has a shuttle.

I spoke with them before I signed with the Inn.

I wasn't too happy with EI b/c the woman seriously took WEEKS to get back to me...she also told me she would send a contract for the 10 rooms, and I never saw it, I followed up constantly, never got in touch with her.

She also didn't want to send me extra hotel card information b/c I only wanted to book 10 rooms.

Meanwhile, the Inn - Peter got back to me quickly, sent the contract quickly, and sent me over 100 info cards to send out with my STD's.

Re: Official '06 Fox Hollow Thread...

Just to add for those who, like me, have guests who can't afford the FH Inn and didn't want a Motel- The Wingate was a day or three late in getting back to me and apologized when I called. They were prompt from then on (they said that I was on the list to be called that day-my info was right in front of them so I'm inclined to believe them).

The e-mailed me the contract and mailed me a TON of inserts with info and directions. So far, they are amazing. Luckily, the church is in Rosyln so it worked out travel-wise.

You can block 2 hotels if your guests have cars/can find their way around. I have a lot of former NYers attending!

Re: Official '06 Fox Hollow Thread...

Reviving this thread 'cause I have a silly question...

Has anyone seen pics of LOW CPs in the Winter Garden Pavillion?

High CPs are beautiful, but they're not for me. I would really like something low, but I don't want it to look silly, lost, or cheap in the room.

Any advice?
TIA

do you have to sign a contract if you only reserved the bridal suite so far?

I don't understand your question...a contract for the Inn at Fox Hollow for the Bridal Suite? No - you book the room, and if you have room blocking, that room goes towards it. If you don't have room blocking, then again, no. They take a credit card, that they don't charge as a 'deposit'
