*~*~Official '08 Wedding Day Prep Page~*~* (starts long!)

Original post by 040508Bride

So I've read a lot about what girls plan to do to prep for the big day, so I figured i'd share some of the things i've learned along the way and plan on doing, and maybe you can all share yours??? You never know what you'll learn!!!! **Beauty/Hair related**

Tanning.....
Not sure if i'm going to delve into this for the big day. I managed 4 tanning salons on LI so it gave me enough experience to know that I will look like a tangerine.....However.....I am a HUGE fan of Brazil Bronze in Great Neck. **If** I do this, I plan on doing it 2 days before the wedding so that it has time to fade to a more normal looking tone.
Be aware that spray tans CAN fade if you sweat, which is why i'm not even sure if i'll be doing this. I plan on dancing a lot so idk if I really want the rims of my gown turning orange.

Skin....

I got the Bare Minerals night powder. Not 100% sure of the name, but it was about $60 and I love it. I put this on every night before bed and it works on acne and skin tone (color blotches, etc).

I go for a pedicure every 2 weeks and switch it up every other time with a Spa Pedicure. To keep my skin soft inbetween, i mix lotion with a drop of massage oil, rub it in before putting my socks on. It works great but you can't use too much oil. Just a drop works great.
I also apply the lotion and oil to my elbows and knees...anywhere you get really dry skin is a good idea.

I am also a HUGE FAN of B&BW exfoliating scrub (the one that is never on sale until this week!! woo hoo!!) I use that every single day on my arms and legs especially in the winter.

When I went for my hair trial, I spoke to my Hair Colorist (Erica from Lumara who I love!!) and she suggested a L'Oreal Deep Conditioning Mask. I only got it this week but after the first use my hair was pretty silky. I have very damaged hair from a recent bad idea of perming my hair (don't ask) so we'll see how this works. So far, so good!
She also suggested not washing hair everyday. She said every other is the best bet.

The best tip of all.....water. water water water!! It helps everything!!! :)

Tips....

To remove stains from dyed shoes (good for Bridesmaids to know if they are getting dyed shoes)....I heard nail polish remover works, or scrubbing with baking soda and peroxide. I have never tried this but I heard it works.

Anyone else doing something a little different for the next few months in preperation?? Hope this helps someone!

I go to Kimara ahnert salon on madison between 83rd and 84th street. No not really, which is weird. I went a few times to another lady when i first started breaking out and yeah i didnt even want to go out after i had a facial. But with this lady i dont walk out looking that bad at all. The only thing you can see is where i had bigger pimples they look a little bit red but they were like that to begin with since they were pimples lol, and now i had just a few marks on my forehead but very small. After she does everything she puts on this medicated cream that looks like foundation so before i walk out of there it looks like i have foundation on and you can't even see anything at all with that on. I got on the train after and didn't feel weird about it, if it was red i would've felt self conscious. But i am not swollen at all, only marks are where my pimples already were. I think if you massage it too much is when it will get swollen, i remember her saying something like this.

i posted the link above this post, it depends on what you get there the prices range greatly for what you get done. Unfortunately since i have to do a couple of things each time and i have problems with my skin it does cost me a bit more plus i buy products for my face which adds to it. If you get a regular facial and just masks and stuff then its a bit less.

no, i said above that some don't need to do these things. If you haven't stressed about it then you most likely don't need to do anything.

Great thread!

I started facials in December and will go every 4-6 weeks. I have really red blotchy cheeks and the products she gave me to use are working really well!!!

I just got back to jazzercise and come hell or high water, I will do my best to be there 4-5 times a week. I want to tone my arms and lose about 10 pounds.

I gave up soda about 4 months ago and try to drink ONLY water. If I want something sweet, I add crystal light.

I'm growing my hair out, so I'll keep getting trims every 4-6 weeks until the wedding. As for the color, right now I'm a pretty dark brown. I'd like to have it a little lighter with very few highlights in it for contrast, however, they won't match the extensions I have, so I have some thinking to do.

I'm usually a beach bum and I'm at the beach all weekend long over the summer, but this summer I'll be working 7 days, so I'll either need to tan or spray tan. I'm thinking once or twice a week beginning July so that it will be a natural looking tan and not just done in two weeks.

i think that is it. again, this is a great thread

ok danielle.....WHY do you want to lose 10 lbs!! youll have nothing left if you do! lol youre crazy!
