Re: *** Official 2010 Woodlands Thread ***

I had my tasting last week--which went really well! I am working on putting together my menu now for Eileen.

I was just wondering if anyone is making changes to the tasting plate? I was thinking of substituting a choc covered strawberry for one of the mini cakes--maybe the cheesecake.

Also, what cake is everyone selecting??

we're doing a fruit platter for each table rather than the apple crisp...red velvet with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting :) glad your tasting went well... how about you?

Don't know if you guys saw - but a bride who got married in April 2010 just posted her review of her wedding at the Woodlands (not a usual poster).

Thought you might want to check it out.

Re: *** Official 2010 Woodlands Thread ***

had my tasting last night for wedding in July- and I have to say I was disappointed. They brought out the most random selection. The filet was well done. The gnocchi was rubbery. They brought out two chicken dishes. We were really interested in the duck- and they didn't have it. This woman came to our table and said the manager would stop by and he never did. They had the wrong date on our paperwork. The cake tasting was great and the fruit tart was good too! Was not impressed with tasting plate and no one was able to answer any questions about the rest of the menu bc the waiters (who were great) barely spoke english. I went in with such high expectations bc everyone is always raving about the food- but was extremely disappointed! I went to a wedding today at the milleridge and every morsel of food was fantastic!!! I wanted to have that reaction!

and I called today to speak to someone and NO ONE CALLED ME back.

Girls who have had tastings or know the answer to this -- what are the cakes like?? Is there certain designs we have to choose from or can they make anything??

Cake post got me thinking about this.

They should have showed you a binder - but majority looked like done in fondant and when I asked if such and such could be done in fondant the BM was like no. Which kinda ticked me off.

So in the end we're opting for a very simple white buttercream cake perhaps with ribbon or just pipping.

Re: *** Official 2010 Woodlands Thread ***

Just got back from my honeymoon. My wedding at the Woodlands on 6-12 was fantastic. I am soooo glad I choose the Woodlands. It was fantastic. One of our guest wrote a review that I thought you guys might enjoy.

What a phenomenal venue for a wedding reception! I'm still awe struck by all of the arrangements and accomodations that were made at the Woodlands. Let me take you through a virtual tour of the reception:

-We arrive for cocktail hour to find a huge room full of fine food and drink. I constantly had to remind myself that this was not the dinner portion of the night as the buffet had delicacies like fresh oysters, clams, lobster claws, prosciutto wrapped asparagus (probably the best thing I've ever tasted), pecan crusted chicken, and probably the best caprese salad I've ever had. The bar was stocked and the drinks were top-shelf.

-Once we had our apps, a gorgeous outdoor veranda awaited which overlooked a scenic par 3. The view included a waterfall and a giant dogwood tree in full bloom. It truly felt like a black-tie affair.

-After cocktail hour, we proceeded into this marvelous dining hall. Once again, the food was phenomenal (choice of filet, fresh sea bass, and chicken). The servers were on top of everything all night, including refolding the napkins any time someone got up. The servers also took drink orders, which I've never seen before at a wedding. All servers were in tuxedos with white gloves...it felt like one of those movie weddings that no real people ever go to. Dessert consisted of three mini-desserts: flourless chocolate cake, cheesecake, and apple crisp. Or so we thought...

-A little while after dessert was served, we were informed there was a 'dessert room' now open. I'm not sure two more heavenly words have ever been spoken. Think of a Vienesse table on crack. There was a crepe and waffle area, an ice cream sundae bar, and a 30-foot table full of various cakes, tarts, cannoli, etc. But...the best part...the dessert bar. Nothing like a shot (or three) of Grand Marnier in a dark chocolate shot glass. Simply sublime.

Bar none, this was the most incredible wedding I've ever been to and a lot of that is a result of the service and experience at the Woodlands. Kudos to the bride and groom for this amazing experience.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Antonio was great - you all know the issues that have been going on - but I promise - nothing to worry about.

If you have any questions - just let me know. Good luck to the July brides.

Congrats on your wedding being a success!
I have my final appt tomorrow and am nervous about it. I need to be assured that the food is of the 2nd tasting caliber and not the first. (our first tasting was AWFUL). I still have not had an email of mine returned from Sally. It is always, 'I am going to email you.' or 'She is just returning your email now' . Melanie responded to emails in two seconds. Now I feel like I have to play 5 rounds of phone tag for even the simplest of questions to be answered. Ridiculous!
