Original post by GR2010

So many other RH's have their own threads... I searched but couldn't find one for the Woodlands... are there even enough of us on here to have an official Woodlands thread???

I decided to add the list of 2010 Woodlands Brides... there aren't many of us!!!

I really really think you are in good hands. If you are worried - ask to speak to Antonio. The last 2 weeks when Eileen left I got so worried - but everything I asked for - Antonio said yes. More importantly - on the night of the event - everything he promised happened.

If I could change one thing it was the cocktail hour music. We had a string quartet play and they were set up in the main room with all the food. That room got sooo crowded and I thought they were drowned out a bit. I should have asked for them to sit on the patio.

Please raved about the service. The staff at the Woodlands did a truly fantastic job. Daniela, my bridal attendant followed me around with a tray of hors d'vours - and they were great. Honestly though - I didn't eat anything else that night. Most of the guests did not eat their salads. Most of the food comments were about dessert or the cocktail hour. All very positive.

For our signature drinks we picked old fashioned cocktails to try to fit in with the mansion - a sidecar, a vodka collins and a ginger rogers. We walked out to a quick step/charleston which was lots of fun.

Our cake was pretty simple - but I thought it came out beautiful. The one bite I had tasted really good and I do not like cake at all.

The new linens looked beautiful. I asked them not to pre plate the bread and they french served it, I asked to rearrange all their table numbers and they did, I asked for them to bring drinks to certain people and they catered to those people all night. There were other things too and all of them were great.

They moved our photos from the mantle in the entry to the piano at the end of the night which was such a great touch.

I will say I was very unhappy with the florist that we chose. Royalty was great. North Fork Trolley was great, Dazzling Affairs was great, Venus Ensembles was awesome, Then Til Now was really really great.

If you want to see some pictures - send me an FM and I will send you a link.

Hi ladies! Is there anyone else out there that is not loving the new linens at the Woodlands??? I guess I am a little worried about them because my colors and silver and white and the linens are gold - so I am not sure how its going to look!

I'm going for my final meeting tomorrow night! What should I expect? After all these switches they better have their acts together! I have been calm and patient with them so far, but since I only have 26 days left I could easily become bridezilla!

Those that have been for their finals--do I need to bring anything with me?

if you're working with Antonio, you're in good hands. they want to know if you have signature drink ideas, any special requests for alcohols, any vegetarians, anyone who has allergies, kosher meals etc. stuff like that. nitty gritty details. you'll also choose your menu, so be prepared to have already chosen stuff then they can help guide u thru it. FM me if u have more questions.

They 100% check this every day!

Question for the girls who already got married... where were your signature drinks? Were they being passed or were they on a table when people left the ceremony and entered the cocktail area?

They put champagne with strawberries on the front table - they looked really good. Sorry but I don't know how the signature drinks got handed out - but I know they did because someone at cocktail hour told me to try his.

Another question....

what did you girls pick as your appetizer... I was all set to choose the pear/gorgonzola salad but everyone who was at the tasting with me said to just do the tomato/mozzarella tower because people know and like that and the pear thing might be weird to them. But other than the pear thing I HATED all of the other appetizers. The thing they gave my sister was DISGUSTING. I hated the raviolis I got too. My dad got a sushi lobster roll looking thing which was also a little gross. I'm just not happy with any of them really and I feel like I have to pick the tomato/mozzarella tower.

I personally like foods that are a little different but everyone kept telling me when I was making choices that I should go with what people like... so then for the fish choice I really liked that snapper but everyone said people usually go for salmon... I don't want to pick food that people don't like just because it's something I would eat...

I thought I would leave the tasting super excited but I'm actually kinda bummed. The passed dishes were good and the main courses were good but I'm really bummed about the appetizer dish. I think I like it better when halls do a salad and an appetizer...

we chose the pear/gorgonzola - it was definitely something different. I thought the tomato/mozzarella tower is kinda boring.

we didn't get to try the snapper but the SEA BASS WAS YUMMY - lighter than the Salmon - salmono is too typical - we wanted something different. And also the Salmon was kinda sweet and heavy - I know my brother would love the dish but we went with something different.

I'm not a past bride just yet - but we're doing signature drinks as well - probably a purple mojito (our wedding color), blue lagoon (since we're going to bora bora for our hm), and fh has to decide on the other drink...

We're going to make signs that will be posted at the bar.

We're not sure what to pick either. We like the pear/gorgonzola, but it seemed like they were a little skimpy on the cheese. Also, we weren't impressed with the tomato mozzarella either. We only got to try those 2 things and some watermelon heart salad thing which was a little cheesy IMO. We wanted to try the squash ravioli but they didn't offer it.

I posted on the BHB board about our dilemma with chicken or duck. We like the duck but are afraid that not a lot of people will want it, and chicken is safer so we'll probably go with the filet, lemon chicken and sea bass. Did anyone have the chicken with lemon and garlic?

We were upset because only FH and I went, but the more people you brought, the more dishes you got to try. We would have brought our MOH and BM but when we booked, Eileen told us that the tasting was a like a nice romantic dinner with just the 2 of us, so she recommended we don't bring anyone else. Meanwhile, we get there, and it's like dinner in a restaurant! Not romantic at all - It wasn't bad or anything, but if we had known, we would have brought 2 people with us. Some folks had like, 6 people in their group! We really could have used more opinions...

We selected the chicken with the lemon and garlic and it was awesome! We are also going with the filet mignon and the red snapper. The duck was really good too, but it was a little too sweet for me (had a kind of cherry sauce on it). It did seem like a neat thing to have at a wedding though if you want something different than the the standard beef/chicken/fish.

We had six people with us. When did you go? The night we went there was a couple just sitting together next to the bar. We were a group of 6 and I think the other group was 5 or 6 as well.

Eileen was an idiot and I told Joe (before he left) that had she been there when I came to book I would have NEVER went with the Woodlands. I couldn't stand her.

Have you worked with Margaret yet? She is much better. She reminds me of Nicole a little bit.

Has anyone worked with Kim? I originally booked with her (if it's the same Kim) but thought she was gone. Then I got a call from a Kim to set up my tasting.

I THINK it's a new Kim. I'm not positive though. I remember the old KIm and then I remember being told she was gone.

We went on the 18th I think.

Yeah, FH and I were confused because we loved the place but Eileen was a little intense. I can't say I was disappointed when she left, just worried because I wouldn't know who we were working with. We haven't had our final appt yet, but at the tasting we were speaking with Debbie a lot, who seems nice.
