***Official African American Brides Thread***

Original post by PoeticJustice

Okay ladies, I love all of the LIW Girls, but I thought it was time that we have a thread dedicated to African American Brides, so that we could discuss wedding and non-wedding related issues that are significant and or relate to women of color. So to start the thread off, could everyone introduce themselves? I am Landra...

ENJFT and others:

How far in advance did you start shopping for your wedding gown? What salons in Brooklyn, LI, SI, or the CITY do you recommend?

UM.

MrsMichel07 highly recommends Valentina in BK.

Yup..... 100%... I am so greatful to Daniela C (there are two of them there) that picked out my dress for me. I went in there thinking bridal satin and she MADE me try on a beautiful lace dress and I knew it was the one!!!

Remember try on all dresses as you NEVER know when you might try on 'THE ONE'

Enjift

I know you mention FH is Haitian, are you having a bilingual ceremony. My needs a bilingual creole/english officiant. can you recommend anyone?

TIA

The church that we are getting married in I believe has a bilingual officiant since some days mass is in Creole.

Call them to find out. It is St. Judes in Canarsie.

We are not having a bilingual mass.

l you should Jeffrey would just looooooove that!!

Is anyone going to 'jump the broom'? I want to but Im still not sure. If I do it I'll probably make my own because all the nice ones that I saw cost like $100

First- Check with ENJFT her sister makes some nice ones!!! All of her work is beautiful!!

Secondly: We will not be jumping the broom. My minister is against it and his reasoning made sense to us- so we are not doing it!!

Hey Ladies, What's Going on Today

I am trying to coordinate my bachelorette party. Does anyone have any unique ideas or plans for what they would like to have? One of my BM is suggesting going on a ski trip with a group she know but I may be a little too old for that

My girls are taking me on a cruise!

Are you doing a cruise out of NY?

Re: ***Official African American Brides Thread***

alright girls
I have been having bumps on my forehead around my 'favorite' time of the month and they leave black spots all over my forehead. It's really embarrasing. so my question is, do you ladies know anything that can remove the scars or diminish the discoloration a bit?
I don't want anything that will make me look as if i'm bleaching my skin ( I get enough comments on skin color everyday ) just something to help my forehead lol.

TIA

I would have love to give business to a brooklyn florist. But, I am afraid that would not make it to the reception hall in LI. Also, after Mrs.Michel07 and enjft put me on to Flower Michele, that was the end of my florist search.
