Okay ladies, I love all of the LIW Girls, but I thought it was time that we have a thread dedicated to African American Brides, so that we could discuss wedding and non-wedding related issues that are significant and or relate to women of color. So to start the thread off, could everyone introduce themselves? I am Landra...

i feel like i'm not doing anything.. but then again.. i'm not.. lol.. fh is like babe we have a year to pick a hall.. i keep telling him OH NO WE DON'T... cause if we wait that long we'll miss the good dates.. and i want teh date i want..

i'mma go work on my album and try to get hte picks to post there..

that sounds like a cool b-party idea... have u looked at red door? in garden city? i plan on doinf something for my bridal party there.. there is also nubest in manhasset.. and if u'r open to the city i hear oasis day spa is mAGNIFICANT!!!

I love this spa called Innerspree they let you rent it out and everything. It is owned by this lady and her daughter.

You should consider finishing it before b/c I'm gonna add it to the STD and put it under Invitation to follow. That way you can give your OOT guest info through the website. Just a thought.

it might not seem like nothing but im so excited because i made a second payment on my RH. I havent booked any other vendors bc im still looking. but it has really hit me that this is really happening just by making a second payment. Sorry ladies i had to share with some1

Nothing wrong with that. My second payment is due June 1.

I'm taking my Mom to Vitality Spa in Westbury for her Mother's Day gift next Friday.

I was thinking of doing the spa for my bachorlette party.

thanks you for understanding. my second payment was May 1 and my third payment is June 1.

Since i'm not until 2009 my payments are a bit spaced out but making the payments does make it seem more real.

Did you all give (or planning ) to give your DJ an actualy DO play and DO NOT play list? I wanted to tell him what kind of music but not specifically songs...... TIA

Currently I'm not planning on doing the lists because I expect my DJ to feel out the crowd. But we'll see what happens when I book & what's on the boards.

I think advising the DJ of the type of music you don't want to hear is enough. Professional Wedding DJs should know that you don't want your mother/grandmother, etc listening to people sing along to 'from the windows to the walls, til the sweat drips down my....... But just in case give him an example of one or two definitely nots and trust his judgement the same way you trust his ability to keep the dance floor packed.

OMG I can see FFIL's face if they start playing that song. I will definitely let my DJ know what he can't play.
