Official (and hopefully final) Hives Update!
Sooo, for everyone who has been following the saga of my hives/rash/allergic reaction, I think my little episode has finally concluded...
I don't know what caused it - it was either 1) birth control; 2) an infection, either viral or bacterial; or 3) something released into the air when we ripped up our rug at home. I had a skin biopsy and it came back negative - everything came back negative, but I was covered in hives up through and including Thursday night. On Wednesday night, I was in the ER because I thought my throat was also closing. On Thursday, my Mom called my allergist and told him to please call me because I was having a meltdown. He did call me and I begged him to please give me an antibiotic just in case it was bacterial rather than viral and he agreed.
Then my Dad drove out to my house and picked me up and brought me back to my parents' house. I started the antibiotic and stayed there and everything cleared up over the weekend and today I am feeling much better and NO HIVES. Was it the antibiotic, getting out of my house and being away from whatever was in the air, or just time passing so the BC could leave my system? I have no idea. I am going home tonight, and if it comes back then we'll know that it's something in the house (God, I hope not).
Keep your fingers crossed for me that I am 100% cured and this nightmare is over!
