Hi Ladies, I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

Well... You could go to any of their dinners and they will reimbursed you for the cost.
My mother and I went, (the same night as LizNMike) We all thought the food was delicious.
You should check it out!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Hey Girls,
I need your help planning what I will need to provide .
I think Deseversky provides direction cards, but they do not make menus or table cards. Is that right? What else are we responsible for?
Also, has anyone tried to bring in stuff, for instance I was thinking it would be a lot cheaper to bring in a couple of cases of Champagne so guests could receive a glass when they come. I think the charge is 10pp (this includes some nuts and fruit I think).
Thanks!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Hey, I was just there on Saturday to meet with Debbie. There was a wedding there that night and they had already brought a bunch of things to leave there for that day in a big tupperware bin, that De Seversky doesn't provide including: Place Cards Bathroom Baskets Menu Board (De Seversky has an easel to put it on) or if you are doing Menu Cards for the place setting you'll have to bring Favors Candles/decorations Do they provide direction cards??? They do provide champagne for a toast, I think it's the fruit and cheese that are the extra $10pp (not sure that may only be for mansion style)
That's all I'm aware of, what else are you thinking of?
BTW - red curtains will be up in 2 weeks.

You can't bring in any of your own liquor. My dad actually called last week to ask :(
Is anyone else having their ceremony there? we are doing ours outside (hopefully!) and i have seen it set up in different locations, on the patio, on the lawn. I am not sure where we should do ours??

We are doing our ceremony there too. I don't think you can have the ceremony in the front of the house because of noise regulations. This is a new policy.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I asked about the location of the outside ceremony like 2 weeks ago... Debbie said they don't do it outside on the front lawn b/c as lreigada said the noise.
The 1 thing that bothers me about having it on the outside patio... is that you walk right into the cocktail hour which is right there... and then the seats would still be set up??? I think that might look weird... to still have the ceremony set up on the patio while you are in your cocktail hour.
Now... There is a green lawn that is Next to the patio down the stairs on the left hand side when walking out of the glass room... I think (I am not positive) but I think that I saw in a pic that you could do the ceremony there... But again, That might have changed too.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
There is that lawn area behind the library room (down the steps) that has a fountain and might be nice for a ceremony. We were going to look into using that area. I really like the back court yard area, but I also am uncertain how the cocktail hour be set up outside if that area is used for the ceremony?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Last message I swear, post pics of your ideas.
Here is what I would like to do for my centerpieces (this will also be my colors, with chapagne accents to match the gold chairs ), table placements/favors, and photo guestbook
We are having our ceremony there as well - and quite honestly haven't given it enough thought yet...but you ladies have got me motivated! I was planning to have the ceremony on the patio and had not thought of the cocktail hour issues associated. I am planning to do it 'in the round'...and I'm not sure I care whether or not the chairs are still set up during cocktail hour - as long as the staff does not try to break it down in full view - I would insist on it being done post-reception.
Also, regarding champagne before the ceremony...I think $10pp is ridiculous to charge...not everyone will drink, the food they offer isn't worth it, they're not offering additional time for the cost (which then digs into your cocktail hour), etc. My DOC is going to negotiate that we bring our own champagne. In fact, my contract does say that we can bring in our own liquor but that we must receive written consent by DeSeversky.
jmusmass00: don't be offended...but your Dad may not have as much leverage as a wedding coordinator (though he should!!!). If I were you, I'd have him, you and/or your FH (if you don't have a coordinator) push the issue a bit harder - if you care to. I'll let you all know what happens with the negotiations between Debbie & my DOC.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
We were not charged anything addditional for the champagne/fruit/cheese pre-ceremony. There was a ceremony charge for 'chair' set-up & to pay the worker to come in an hour early to do this.....I think it was $1000 which def can cover the cost of a few bottles of champagne! There also was no charge for the menus & direction cards which Debbie printed. THERE WAS an additional SURPRISE charge for the bridal suite. Which we were made aware of the day b4-----make sure ou get this fee waived or negotiated ahead of time-I believe it was $350 & WAS NEVER mentioned during the numerous visits--sales pitches regarding the bridal suite etc. It also has restricted hours....for instance you are unable to use it in the am--rather only after 1pm!!! We stayed at the Roslyn Claremont & got ready there instead. Another surprise was not being able to use the room adjacent to the bridal suite for our Ketubah signing which must take place immediately prior to the ceremony--with all guests already downstairs---the option Debbie offered was the HALLWAY upstairs@! We squeezed everyone into the entrance to the bridal suite & do not have any nice pictures at all of this sacred moment............I apologize for not writing my review----while my wedding was truly amazing--I was so thrilled never to have to deal with de Seversky again...I guess I just have put it off.....Our wedding was just featured in an article recently released & has a few pictures of de Seversky go to: http://www.nycityweddings.com/planning/articles/. The pictures were taken by our photographer Christine Spellman. & the article features--The Bride's Choice-the DOC I won in the LI Wedding Contest for Laurie Savino.

Your pictures are great!! I just wish that they were bigger. I'm really sorry that you were less than thrilled with the DeSeversky Center, but I appreciate all of your tips. My FH and my parents and my in FIL's are going to look at a setup there this Saturday. I will be sure to mention the bridal suite thing to Debbie.
My ceremony is at my church- but I love listening to your ideas about the ceremony, Ladies.
Have you guys booked any of your other vendors? I am looking at the last DJ tonight. I have flowers and photo done. Who are you guys using for limos? I think I am going to use Designer.
Here's a pic from one of our engagement pics session:

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Hi ladies!
I am down to 32 days and I cannot believe it. Everything is right on schedule so I am not too stressed just yet. Met with Rosalie my DOC last night to discuss every single detail and the timeline. I am so glad I booked her. She has done 4 weddings there so that makes me feel better knowing she knows the grounds and how the parties work there. As far as bringing things to DeSeversky here are some things I plan on bringing:
Menus Favors Votive Place Cards Bathroom Baskets Slipper Baskets Toasting Flutes Pictures for mantle Runners
I know there is more but that is all I can think of at the moment.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Well when my dad called debbie, she said people used to be allowed to bring in a special wine or somethign that they didn't offer, but now it is strictly forbidden! I might call back in the spring, when we are closer when i have thought more about specifics.
as far as ceremony location, i have seen in photos it set up on the right side of the patio on the lawn, and to the left under that big tree?? i guess it depends on the lighting, and time of year. I thought it woudl be easier to walk and have chairs on the patio, but you guys are right about the cocktail hour.
