Original post by KimberlyBride

Hi Ladies,
I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

I'm getting married in June of 06 and I don't have anything done yet!

That is amazing that you have so much figured out. Hopefully it'll give you some time to relax once all the decisions are made.

I'm getting married in Aug 06 and I still have tons to do as well. I have the band and the place but that's about it.

I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions on places to go for wedding gowns. I went for the first time today and found a Vera Wang one that I love. However, I am a bit nervous about buying it because I have not seen many and because the price was more then I anticipated spending. Any Suggestions?

Priscilla of Boston (Long Island)

Roslyn Heights, NY 11577

I have to tell you about my experience there. My mother told me that in her day, Priscilla of Boston was a huge name for dresses and that it is quality. So I got an invitation on email and I went- they were having a sale on discontinued dresses. I wound up falling in love with the first dress I put on- it was about one quarter of the original price. The people there couldn't have been nicer- I tried on dresses that weren't on sale but I just loved the first one so much. . the people there are so nice too- not pushy- they don't have to be, I have to tell you that every single dress in that place is gorgeous. They sell themselves.

Fm me with any questions! There's the POB website picture of my dress:

I have also been to Priscilla of Boston in Roslyn. Purchased a bridesmaid dress there. Very nice staff. Great gowns too! Here is the website:

I have also heard this website called About A Dress has designer gowns at 1/4 of the price (but their site seems to be down at the moment):

Congrats mclane on your dress!!! ITS BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Thanks, prinsess! I didn't think I'd cry when I put on my dress, but I did!!

My FH's friends just got back from Hawaii and they loved it. I don't know that I could take the travel time, though.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Do you mean like air plane travel time???

Oh I am used to it, I go to Korea and China for my job... so Hawaii will be nothing.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Europe is not much less than Hawaii. I have done both and a flight to England was 7 hours and a flight to hawaii was 10 hours. I think Italy is either the same time or a little longer than England.

Hey ladies,

Just recently back from Hawaii (Maui), where my FH proposed. It is beautiful! The plane is not a big deal. We had a portable DVD and brought travel scrabble. It's worth the long flight!

We are thinking of Bali or New Zealand for honeymoon. My FH has sooo many airline miles from business travel that we can use those instead of buying airfare. The flights to New Zealand will be over 20 hours though...a long way to go unless you're staying for 2 weeks. We are going to try and get away for that long.

I hear New Zealand is BEAUTIFUL, I work with someone who lives there, and comes to NY to sell me 'skins' (SICK I KNOW!!! I BUY LEATHER FROM HIM)

He always tells me how beautiful New Zealand is to live!!!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

mclane: Thanks foe the suggestion I am definitely going to make an appointment

Jmumass00: Thanks for the forum mail I am definitely going to look into seeing if I can make a trip to Boston to check out that store

Regarding honeymoons:

I have been to New Zealand and it is absolutely amazing. It has some of the most amazing scenery in the world and is a once in a life time experience. Depending on how much time you have you should think about checking out Australia if you decide to go to New Zealand. The flight is short and relatively inexpensive. I lived in Sydney for 6months and it is also an awesome place to see.

In regards to the flight to Italy I think it only takes about an hour longer than England. It is such a beautiful country and there is so much to do and see there as well.

My FH and I are still deciding where we want to go. I think we may do Hawaii because it's a place we both have never been and always wanted to go. My sister went on her honeymoon there and so did my FH sister and both said it was surreal.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

My mom was talking to someone last night at a party and they were raving about a wedding they went to- the food, everything was so perfect. It was the DeSeversky!! That made me so happy!! This person is an executive manager at the Mandarian Oriental in the city, so he knows about things like that. . . he said everything was tasteful and elegant. I'm so psyched!!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

That's awsome!!!!!! I had a similar situation happen where the chef of Garden City Hotel was raving about the food at Deseversky. That made me feel really good.

Wow that's great! Michael and I were at a party and met someone who had gone to a wedding at DeSeversky and raved about the food and the service. It made us so ecstatic because the person had been a manager at The Plaza and the Waldorf=Astoria for years.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

My FSIL went to a tasting at Fox Hollow last night (she's getting married there in May) and it was basically a free sit down dinner. Does anyone know whether they do anything similar at DeSeversky?
