Original post by KimberlyBride

Hi Ladies,
I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

I totally understand I was the same way as you. I had read those things before I signed my contract and even though I loved the place it made me really worried. However, I spoke to Debbie about them and she was very reassuring. She addressed each one of my concerns and made me feel really confident. I also went to a dinner there and it was fantastic. Plus since I have booked I came across a lot of people who have either been to weddings or corporate events there and said they were all amazing. Also when I read the website I felt as though everyone had a DOC which concerened me. I mean even though she is not very pricey I still thought it wasn't fair that this was a neccessity. However, Debbie said she has only worked with Rosalie once and Lori once as well. Plus the time she worked with Lori the bride had one her services on LI weddings. I am still probably going to have a DOC juts because I know I will get so upset if the slightest things goes wrong but Debbie made it seem that with or without you would be fine. So don't fear your Wedding will be everything you could want and more !

In addition about the 150 sit down dinner. The post you read were most likely rgearding me. I am planning to have around 150 as well and will be hving a sit down. Everyone told me that it was impossible that I would have to have Mansion style and I got very upset. So my fiance and I met with Debbie and went on a Sat morning to see a wedding set up for a 140-150 sit down dinner. My parents and his were there and we all sat at the table no problem at all. There was enough space and it did not feel cramped. However, I do suggest if your number goes over 150 to switch to mansion style which Debbie said wouldn't be a problem. At the moment I am trying to get my list so that I have 140. However, these things are unpredictable but if you really think you are going to hae 150 it won't be a problem.

Hi Girls,
I am thinking of having my reception here on June 10, 2006. Debbie and I are playing phone tag. I saw the grounds on Sunday but I was not able to see inside so I am trying to set up an appointment this week.

Glad to have found this forum. This place seems great and we want to do the mansion style for our party as we'll have about 160 people. And we want it to be less formal than a traditional wedding.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I HOPE IT GOES WELL! I AM SURE YOU WILL LOVE IT! LET US KNOW HOW EVERYTHING GOES!

Yes! We are having a pianist play outside on the patio during the cocktail hour.

Us too. We hired a pianist to play the cocktail hour. Hopefully it will be nice out and he can set up outside or in the garden room.

We are using Jim from Music JHT - great communication and reasonably priced. As DeSeversky has a baby grand that he has played on before.

Can the piano go outside???????

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Most likely outside he would use a keyboard. However, I may have him play in one of the rooms we are using for the cocktail hour instead. In that case Debbie said we could use the Baby Grand they have there. That will most likely be decided on by the weather and the number of people who are coming. We booked the JK band. They are really great! My fiance and I are addicted to the cd they sent us. They also are reasonably price just in case anyone is still looking for a band.

You've made me feel so much better- thanks. I'm driving my poor FH crazy being neurotic about all of this. We're going to see the setup as well and then we're going to sit down and hash out the guest list. I know that in the grand scheme of things everything will work out- *sigh* but all of this drama makes me want to elope, you know?

Are any of your girls using a DJ? I have flowers, photography, makeup and hair and my dress done. I have the girls dresses picked out, but they haven't gone for fittings yet. DJ's the last big thing. I would like to have piano music for the cocktail hour too.

Both Rosalie and Laurie called me back, I'm going to be meeting with them soon and I will let you know how it goes.

We are using the Garden City Hotel for our OOT guests- they're giving us a really nice package.

Thanks again for all of the moral support!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

That is true I am sure the baby grand piano cannot go outside. But who knows?

I know after reading some of the concerns from previous brides I spoke to Debbie about all of them and was assured everything would be taken care of. I even went as far to make sure the toilet paper in the rest room would be replenished if it was out as one of the past brides mentioned. Rosalie will also be getting a list of things to check/look out for the day of the wedding. Like you said we are paying too much to have subpar service. I have been there 5 times for brunch and parties and each time I am impressed with the service and food. So I don't think we have anything to worry about. And you 06 and 07 ladies will be getting a full review from me. So no worries. It is nice to see DeSeversky is becoming more popular. When I booked in March04 there was only one other bride on LIW getting married there. I think it is a hidden gem

I am having a DJ. We are using Music by Michael. He is great. Tons and tons of positive reviews from previous brides.

Also you might want to consider a harpist for cocktail hour. I love the way they sound. It was a toss up between a harp and a piano and the pianist won. I think the lower price tag helped in that decision.

I spoke with Debbie as well about all of the concerns and she was able to reassure me that things would be fine. I also went to 1 wine dinner, a lobster bake, and a lunch and everything was wonderful each time so I am not as worried as when I first read the postings. Also, because Deseversky has been getting more popular, the management has been improving and adjusting to the clientel.

Yeah - there are 9 of us on this list! When Kimberlybride first started the thread there was only 2 other girls now there are many more! Can't wait for your review.

nybridetobe - where are your pics?

I am glad I could help. I felt the same way as you when my FH and I first booked. I was so paraniod about making the right decison but I am confident that we did. The place is just so beautiful you can't go wrong.
Wow you seem to have everything else under control. I still have to go shopping for my dress, the bridesmaids dress, find a photographer, and pick a florist.
We booked DeSeversky, our band, and the church right away but know I am still doing all the rest.
This week we picked out our Save the Dates but there is still a lot to do....As Always

Also I think the only two DOC's that have worked there are Rosalie and Lori Savino. I think you confused Laurie from LA Productions with Lori Savino. Just an FYI.

I am using Rosalie.

Ok, I got so much accomplished this weekend!!!

1- BOOKED DESVERSKY!!! Finally I gave in my Deposit check

2- BOOKED MY BAND!

3-BOOKED MY DOC! (Rosalie!)

I am super excited!

And to all of you that are worried... There is no reason that you should make your self sick in worrying... Things are going to go wrong that you cannot prevent where ever you are... but thats what makes the day so rememberable!
