OK!!! So my Fh and I decided!!! Deseverksy!!!!! We are so EXCITED!!!

What are some things that everyone wanted to make sure that they had in there contract when giving down payment.

Please help me out here!! Thanks Girls!

I forgot to say, when I was there yesterday, I saw the new floor in the ballroom it looked great!

Also, Debbie mentioned in 2 weeks they were redoing the mens bathroom.

She also mentioned that they picked out the huge chandelier for the enterence hallway, but she was not sure when it would be in.

As for the new curtains they were not up yet.

As for Debbie, she was very helpful and answered all my questions, I felt very at ease with her yesterday.

I am super happy we decided on Deseversky.

BUMB FOR DESVERSKY BRIDES:

What are some things that everyone wanted to make sure that they had in there contract when giving down payment. I am going this weekend to give my down payment... and I want to make sure I have everything in my contract considering this is not the everyday wedding hall.

Hello All! Sorry I have not been around in a while. I was away and then crazy busy with work and chaning jobs. However, I am so happy you decided to book there prinses777. At first glance I liked Harrison as well but I had heard a lot of negative feed back about it. Also the day Michael and I went to look at it there was a bride complaining about the service at her wedding the night before.
Anyway, welcome all the brides I have not spoken to yet. I defiantly look forward to chatting with everyone. How is everyone's plans going? Have you all booked everything else yet? How about wedding dresses-have any of the summer 06 brides picked out there dress yet?
Prinses777 what did the stain on the new ballroom floor like? Also regarding the contract my sister is a lawyer and I made her go through it with a fine tooth comb before I signed. Basically is short I noticed that a lot of the things Debbie told me were not written so I made her add it all. I mean basics like how many servers per table, how many valet staff, that linens/table/chairs were included, that there would be a bridal attendant-(all stuff she said but did not have in writing). I am sure these things would have been included anyway but it's always good to have a legal document including them. If you did not specify a lot of specifics I am sure it's nothing to worry about. She thought I was a nut with some of the things I had added.
Anyway, I hope all is well with everyone!

I went to see my sample last night at Flower Michele and it was gorgeous. I can't wait to see these on the table. Also having red runners made and the CP's will be on there. I can't wait to see it all set up!

Also, my mom went to a book signing at Barnes and Noble in Bay Terrace. DOC Francine De Cicco spoke and Mom loved her.

I know I am so so so so so so excited. Everything is really coming together. Working on all the smaller details now and having a blast. Wish you all could come to the wedding. But I will be sure to post tons and tons of pics.

Working with Debbie as I get closer to the day has been great. She answers all my questions and helps me with anything.

So I wanted to tell you ladies the flower arrangement I have having when you walk into DeSeversky. On the large eagle table in the foyer is going to be a large 3 foot tall silver trumpet vase with a huge topiary of cherry love roses. Below the topiary is going to be pillars of multiple heights with rose petals. I think it will look awesome. I am also having a red silk runner made for the table. I am going to put my place card votives on this table and later the favors (pies).

Also to all the 06 and 07 brides you need to make sure if you have a candle that something is underneath it. Like you cannot have a pillar on the table. You need to have it on a plate or in a holder. John at Flower Michele is going to be putting all the candles on waxed cardboard and then cover them with rose petals so the linens don't get damaged. I am having red silk runners on the table also. I can't wait to see how the room looks all set up.

Glad to have found this forum. This place seems great and we want to do the mansion style for our party as we'll have about 160 people. And we want it to be less formal than a traditional wedding.

I'll let you know how it goes.

I thought I'd introduce myself- my name's Courtenay and I'm having my wedding at the DeSeversky Center 9/2/06. So nice to meet you all!!
I have to tell you though, that when I read the negative posts, I was really, really, really upset. I'm thinking of having a DOC myself- I put an email out to Rosalie. I've been working with Debbie- she has been nothing but polite and friendly. Also- we're having 150 and a sit down dinner, so when I've read all of the posts about 130 being too many, I'm getting nervous. We've already put down our deposit, and I wouldn't think of switching anyway. I'm just totally second guessing everything right now. Debbie and I had a long talk last week about the better business bureau- I had told her that I didn't book a florist b/c they had bad reports. She told me that if I read anything negative about the Deseversky Center that she'd like to know. Up until yesterday, I really hadn't. I'm wondering if she knows about the other brides who were so unhappy with the service. It seems a shame, but I was wondering if you girls were going to address your concerns with Debbie. I plan to- its just unacceptable that we're spending this much money to get sub-par service. I'm trying to take this all with a grain of salt. I've read posts about the Fox Hollow where people said it was wonderful and I've been to two weddings there that I thought were terrible. Same for other places.

I'm trying to still be as excited as I have been about our place, but now I'm all nervous.

*sigh*
