Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Original post by KimberlyBride

Hi Ladies,
I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I met with Debbie on Saturday and had such a great time. We discussed all the wedding details and I selected the menu. I added a station to the cocktail hour and also upgraded the dinner selections and added a pasta course. I wanted to make sure there was enough food for everyone. We are also getting the dessert cafe with pastries, cakes, pies, cookies, fruit, etc. I can't wait!!! I even picked out my cake - chocolate with chocolate ganache filling...YUM! Debbie was so sweet and really on top of everything. She explained everything to me and answered without a problem the list of 20 questions I had. I was really impressed and felt so happy after leaving. Also told her I was using Rosalie as the DOC and she said she was here for a wedding a few months ago and they worked great together. That was nice to hear. We also did a walk through and she told me about all the new things they are doing with the floors, curtains, etc. like the above poster was saying. Everything is going to look so nice. I am just so so so happy and excited to be having the reception there!

Wow! so many changes! Now that i think about it, new chandliers in the ballroom would be nice!

When FH and i went to go look at the grounds exactly one year before our date (i guess we are not the only ones who did that!!) there were no flowering plants outside. i wonder when they plant them?? B/c that woudl be really nice if there were!

I dont think the bathrooms were that bad. Compared to some places we looked at. they are a little old looking, but the place is old so i guess it all fits!

Does anyone know if we get to do a tasting? i dont remember hearing anything about that.

Kim, glad to hear everything went so well there with Debbie.

Debbie said they planted late this year because of the bad weather in June. So I guess it will dependhow the weather is.

I agree - I did not think the bathroom is that bad either.

As for tasting - no official tasting but you can go to a wine dinner and get the $$$ off your wedding bill.

OH, ok. I hope it is not rainy next june! our ceremony is supposed to be outside!

Thanks ladies! Yes I am so excited! More now then ever. The plants outside looked so pretty and they also took down the blue NYIT awning from the front which I was happy about. The bathroom is old school but that is the style of the mansion and it flows with everything else. If the bathroom was redone to be new and contemporary it wouldn't have the same feel to it.

Also I love the new gold ballroom chairs. I took pics on Saturday if you want to see the chairs and also the updated bridal suite.

OH!!! I totally agree that they shouldn't do the bathrooms all over... I was just saying that the color was a little far fetched, and not very old looking... it was bright blue...

But... I still love it!!!

Can someone tell me what the minimum pp for a Saturday night is in Sept? Also do you know how many guests they can accommodate. We should have around 200 but from the pics online it doesn't seem like it can hold that many. Thanks!

I think that 200 ppl is too much for a sit down... but you can always have a 'mansion style' wedding...

You might be able to have 200ppl sit down, if you have the dancing in a different room...

Have you tried the Harrison House??? I looked there this weekend... and I think I might be leaning towards there.

I was in love with Deseversky... But know I don't know b/c we also love the Harrison House....

So Confused!!!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Thank you, lreigada and thanks to all of you for the great information! Good, bad or indifferent, DeSeversky is the only place for me. My mom had told me about the place years before I even met my fiancee and she just said that whenever I got married, she would like for me to at least look at it. The minute we turned onto the pathway leading up to it and the mansion came into view, all I could do was gasp and say 'Wow' - I was in love. I was so pleased to find out that they were also affordable.
After reading all of your reviews, I was a little apprehensive about the service during the reception. That is the last thing I want to be on my mind on the big day. I feel relieved to have found out about Rosalie from you all and we are probably going to have her there with us that day. Someone to make sure everything goes smoothly. I love hearing all your stories and hope we all stay in touch and share pictures

Hello DeSeversky Brides,

Does anyone have any pictures from your wedding?

Also, any updates on the red drapes?

I have an appointment to check out DeSeversky in 2 weeks.

THANKS!!!!

Okay, I'm new...what does DOC stand for? Also, what are the responsibilities of DOC?

THANKS!

I am really glad I did!!! I really like Rosalie, best $$$ I spent, and she really goes beyond the call of duty. Another DOC that I liked and was rec to me by another bride who got married at deseversky was Laurie Savino - I spoke with her as well and she sounds great. You might want to start with either of those people.

Don't be too nervous - I spoke with my DOC who said that things have run very smoothly there and only had positive things to say. Debbie also said that the more detail you give her the better - Debbie has been responsive to my requests and has been willing to work with my vision - in fact the flexibility on Deseversky's side has been great.

Your day will be great
