Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Original post by KimberlyBride

Hi Ladies,
I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

I am pretty positive that the 'hospitality station' is free only when you book a ceremony there...

This includes champagne and cheese, fruit and crackers... I am pretty sure...

Actually I am now positive it says 'IF BOOKED CEREMONY HOSPITATLITY IS COMPLIMENTARY'

Hope this helps!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

We visited DeSeversky 2 weeks ago and posted pictures of the mansion:

DeSeversky Pictures

While we didn't book, we were in awe at the beauty of the architecture and the grounds.

The ballroom is stunning and the new floor is very nice. As some others have posted, we were concerned about the size of the ballroom if our guest list grew. We have a traditional Italian family that likes to sit down for dinner so mansion style wasn't an option for us.

A few other notable points:
- Chafing stations are self-service
- One waiter per 2 tables
- Very quiet setting and secluded from the main campus
- Staying the night at the bridal suite was $325 or $350 (have to check my notes) and included breakfast in the morning. No other service is available during the night, it's just you and your new hubby in the Mansion!

Congrats to all! I will post more from my notes asap.

IT STATES

OPTIONAL:

WEDDING CEREMONY: ADDS 1 HOUR TO EVENT; INCLUDES CHAIRS, SET UP AND BREAKDOWN $1000 FEE

IF CEREMONYU BOOKED ON SITE- HOSPITALITY STATION COMPLIMENTARY.

IT IS ON THE FIRST PAGE OF THE CATERING CONTRACT WHERE IT HAS THE PRICE AND TIME BREAKDOWN.

See it?

I must have an older version of the contract - mine doesn't say that. I'll bring it up to Debbie and hope she honors that. It would definitely solve some problems for us.

And, while staying in the mansion for the night is appealing, I think it would make me nervous too!

they let you stay overnight in the mansion? that's hot. They give you a hospitality station included in the $1000/ ceremony fee. it's looking better & better

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I just remembered something that I wanted to share....make sure you assign someone to retrieving your cake knife....even w/our DOC...our brand new silver cake knife from Tiffany's...a wedding gift we rcvd at the RD-was lost in the kitchen for a week. Just one of those things you would never think of worrying about...luckily a staff member found it in the kitchen! In regards to sleeping at the mansion-are you sure that is in the contract? It was not in our version --unless it was recently added...not sure if it would be too much fun waking up to the knocking on the door of the next bride to be...waiting to get her hair & make-up done! The Roslyn Claremont has 2 options-we used one suite to get ready in-2 rooms combined & the other was one room w/a four poster bed & a living room....

i had tried to negotiate for the hospitality station b/c we are doing the ceremony there. they wouoldnt do it! so i got them to include water with lemon to be handed out before teh ceremony. and that is what it says in my contract.

i dont think i would sleep over there either! a little creepy!
and it says ' house available three hours prior to event start time' no mention of that charge for the bridal suite.

WAIT!!! So you didn't get the hospitality with the ceremony!!!
I would go back and fight for it!!!

How come it is included now... you are getting married next yr... there is no reason why you shouldn't have it...

I would raise Hell about that... Especially if I was trying to negotiate about it!!!

That now they include something, and they are not offering it to you!!!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I don't see it on my info as well!!! I really think we should get these services. We are paying the same ceremony fee, and the dinner rates per person is no different. Perhaps as a collective group we should address this issue with Debbie? What do others think? Or should we talk to Rosalie about this?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Well... How much are they charging you for the Ceremony fee??? Maybe it isn't the same price...

In my contract it sates $1000.00

What does it say in yours?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

yeah I am paying a $1000 ceremony fee as well. They want to charge us an extra 10pp for this service. With tax and everything, for 130 people it is an extra $1500!!!!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I would totally say something...

Just say that you are freinds with me or something and we were talking about it and were wondering why you weren't being offered the same thing.

I don't care...

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Hi All

Wanted to see how everyone's planning is going. Between work, graduate school, and wedding planning, I have not been able to keep up to date on things. However, I just read over the past couple of pages and have some comments.

I am not having my ceremony there, but I am having a hospitatlity station. I wanted the wedding party to have a little something while we took pictures.

The room is not included on my contract. I believe she said it would be around 300 to stay there. I am not quiet sure what the exact number was because I didn't have any interest in staying there. They say they are not willing to negotiate but definitely try. However, usually they'll only negotiate if you haven't signed the contract.

trishanddeli- Thanks so much for the pictures they are great. I really loved seeing them.
mclane- I have an appointment next week for Priscilla of Boston so I will defiantly let you know how it goes

SoontobeMrsS-I love your icon-that is such a cute idea-that's the engagement ring I have

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I've been meaning to post too but I've been so busy!

Liz and Mike- let me know definately!! I love that place- they're so nice! Ask for Felisha or Kristin, they were both so nice.

I went to see DeSev. set up for a wedding last Saturday- it was for about 130 people. It looked really pretty and I can see that its going to be just beautiful. My mom was concerned about the space thing- we are going to put two bars outside of the ballroom, one in the library, one in the room that you see when you turn left when you first walk in, I don't think that everyone is going to be in the ball room all the time.

I found out something that concerns me a little bit though- did you guys know that it is considered an 'upgrade' to have one waiter per table as opposed to a waiter for every other table? I think that's a little strange. I brought up the fact that I didn't want tip jars on the bar. . . of course we were going to provide gratuity for the bartenders.

There's a lot of hidden fees. I think that what we're doing here is good- letting each other know about all of the things we should inquire about.

My contract states that the hospitality station is $10/person. We're not having that though. Our cocktail hour is going to be from 5:30-7:00, the reception from 7:00-11:30.

That's all for now- keep me updated!

Who are guys using for limos? That's my next vendor to book

Hey ladies!

I'm using Royalty Limo (in Franklin Square). I called around to a lot of places and they had the best deals. They also have a ton of specialty cars if you want to do the Rolls Royce or other old cool car.

They were really nice and made me feel like I got a great deal.

I have 2 limos: a 14 person and a 10 person for 3 hours and they threw in an 8 person to take me and the groom back to the hotel at the end of the night.

I am still trying to decide if I want to provide a bus for the OOT guests at the end of night. It's over $400!

mclane: thanks for the tip on the DJ.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Does De Seversky recommend any photographers?

I want to make sure I choose a photographer that is familiar with the grounds and the mansion that will be able to take beautiful pics.

Who are you using?
