Hi Ladies, I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

OMG!! pics of kimberly's wedding from the 05 boards!! She looks so happy!!
Kimberly's wedding looked amazing—I'm obsessed with the wax seals on the black ribbon, how elegant and cool!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I am VERY happy to have found this site because I am a bundle of nerves and I have a million questions.
I am having a sit down dinner, but I will be using the dining room and the garden room for it. The remaining 3 hours will be spent in the ballroom for dancing. The most pressing question I have now involves the flowers. Since I will be using 2 rooms, do I need to order twice the amount of flowers??? Any suggestions?
Also, what is the deal with candles? It says in my contract that they need to be in water, but I've seen reception pictures with free standing candles.
Also, does anyone know what church Kim got married in? It looks awesome and I think that is my church.

That's so funny you say that because my Mom's friend from work had the same set-up for her daughter's wedding and I had never heard of that!!
I think you should concentrate the flowers at the dinner and then do floral accents everywhere else.
my contract says that it has to be votives. nothing about water. I would ask Debbie. it seems that all of our contracts are different.
Don't stress-just get involved- your wedding will be beautiful, as will all of ours!
Welcome!!

Thanks so much for your advice!
We have a large guest count but still wanted a sit down, so Debbie said using those 2 rooms could be an option. So the first hour will be cocktail hour in the terrace room, library, outside and the second hour will be in the dining room and garden room. The thing that is making me nuts is that I will spend all that money for flowers and people will only be at the table for one hour!
Do you know how your mom's friend's wedding arrangement worked out?
Thanks for your help.

Welcome!
We contemplated doing a sit down in thoses two rooms so the ballroom could be turned into a lounge. I think if you get flowers you should have someone move them (some or all) into the ballroom or around the mansion so you get more use of them. That would have been what we would have done. Flowers are expensive. Just a suggestion.

That was my thought too. If you can have someone assigned to move them from one room to the other, that may work.
Also, since it is two separate areas you may want to make the ballroom look different and do only candles and rose petals as centerpieces. Or something similar.

I have been thinking about this too b/c we are doing the mansion style. so we might do small arrangements during the two hour cocktail hour, then just do candles, votives or floating candels in the ballroom. we will also bring in any flowers we use up at the 'altar' during our ceremony, and put them next to the fireplace. and we will have an arrangement on the bar. i dont want it to look too empty in the ballroom, but i dont want to spend a $$$!

I AM SO HAPPY THIS SITE EXISTS!!! Thanks for all your suggestions everyone. I will try to have some of the centerpieces moved into the ballroom. Now my next question...I want to have lots and lots of candles. Should I buy them at a store like Michael's or try to rent them? Also, can anyone recommend an affordable florist? THANKS!

I'm using Burton's. They're pretty popular on here and they're the most reasonable I found. I looked at a few billion florists.
website is www.flowersbyburton.com
good luck!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I called Burton's and I was told a low, inexpensive centerpiece runs about 75 dollars. This seems kind of high. Am I in denial about what this will cost?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Try a local florist... Not a major wedding florist... they might be able to give you a better price...
I used to work in a florist... you can get a nice low centerpiece for less then $75 bucks...

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
just to let all of you know, Burton's is doing all of my flowers for under 2K- that's the most reasonable price I was quoted. Everywhere else I looked wanted 3-4K.
FYI

I've read a lot about Rosalie. Does anyone have a number for her? Also, what kind of price range can I expect. I think I am willing to pay for peace of mind!
