Original post by KimberlyBride

Hi Ladies,
I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

Hi chicks! I haven't heard anything from you guys lately- anything new going on? I'm stalking the Bride's Review board for Kimberly's review!!

I have a question for you- are you all going to incorporate the feel of the Deseversky into your invitations? I'm starting to think about that and I thought it might be a nice idea.

Are any of you going to have a signature cocktail? I think that's a cute thing to do- I've seen girls make their own cockatil menus- it looks so neat!

Hope all is well with you all. . .

Cmeg- any luck with the planning?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I have been stalking for Kimberly review also!!!

Ok... So I am obsessed... I keep driving by de Seversky... I went again with my FH on Sunday... and it was sooo nice... There was a wedding going on... and it was around 5:00 and it looked sooooo pretty!!!!

We got so excited!!! We went and got ice cream cones to celebrate... We are so weird.

Anyway... I was thinking of enclosing the history about deseversky in which they have in there little hand out... I already have it on my website... but I thought it would be nice to put it on matching paper like the invites to give my guest a little bit of history of the place...

Other then that... we were also thinking of having a masquerade, but not tell any of the guest and they will find out when they get there... we will provide mask for everyone... but we want it classy not cheesy... and we know there is such a fine line...

Any ideas???

Any new news regarding the Choc fountain and pricing???

just to let all of you know, Burton's is doing all of my flowers for under 2K- that's the most reasonable price I was quoted. Everywhere else I looked wanted 3-4K.

FYI

What are you getting for 2K and what type of flowers... That sounds like a good deal to me!

I am stalking the review boards too!

I also go by deseversky 2x a week because I work on campus. I love this place and the charm never goes away, it continues to grow on me.

I love the idea of a mascarade!! How much fun! I don't think it will be cheesy. If your having a sit down perhaps have everyone put on their masks in between cocktail hour and dinner?

FYI-I just bought my dress and booked our hooneymoon to Hawaii - so excited!

However, on a frustrating note I am still trying to get debbie to include the hospitality station with our ceremony fee. I am annoyed that they are not consistent with what they offer everyone.

Hope everyones planning is going well!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I have tried to e mail Debbie regarding my first payment... but for some reason I don't think she got the entire e mail, like she only answered 1/2 my questions...

Anyway, did they automaticly charge your credit card???

Thanks lreigada, I am really hoping it won't be cheesey. I cannot believe they won't put the hospitatlity station in. I would threaten not to have the cermony there and see if that would change there mind... I don't know, I am all talk and no action... Maybe the raised the price of the ceremony fee to include the hospitatlity... in my contract it was I believe $1000. I think... I can double check when I get home.

Thanks. I think my contract states that I am doing the ceremony there - so I am not sure if I can threaten to remove it because I have already agreed to it. But I will try to negotiate :). We have made our first deposit and a few afterwards - but no they are not automatically charging our credit card. The ceremony fee is 1000. Then in addition they want to charge 10pp for the hospitality station. Does anyone else have this?

While email is a good means of contacting Debbie - it might be better off calling her.

So where is everyone planning on having their ceremony? I know you can not do it in the front of the house (i.e. the view from the road because of residential rules). Has anyone asked Debbie about other places besides the patio?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I also tried to get debbie to throw in the hospitality station with our ceremony (after we signed our contract because I heard others had)...I even got my DOC on the case. Debbie dropped the cost from $10pp to $5pp but it will only be beverages...no food. Which I'm fine with. And this is only because my DOC pushed hard.

However, my DOC told me that the reason all contracts are different (and she learned this from Debbie) is that all things are negotiable up-front (like all things wedding). And she'll throw in some things like hospitality station if it means she'll get you to book. If you're ready, willing & able the minute you see the place (like I was), she doesn't need to bargain with you to book. Another ex: my wedding cake is NOT included...but it is for others who weren't 100% ready to book.

Hope this helps clarify the reason why we all have different contracts. Good luck with the post-signing negotiating!!! Debbie's tough!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I think I'm sticking to the patio for my ceremony. I worry about guests heels getting stuck in the grass, etc. I'm going this Saturday for a meeting with Debbie and to check out a set-up. I'll bring that up and see where else would be good. Anywhere on that property, quite frankly, would be beautiful. I think you all agree!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I think we saw a picture (cant remember how i got this idea) but you coudl set up the ceremony under the big tree to the left of the patio. it is hard to explain. but that woudl be on the grass. then your guests woudl be looking off to the side other than the big law out back.
i for now have let the hospitaliy go. we are getting water with lemon. i also feel like people are going to be drinking alcohol for the next five hours, i dont need to spend the money for them to get another cocktail.
i didnt even think about my cake. i wasnt going to get one b/c we are getting the dessert buffet. but now i kind of want one. where are you all getting yours? can i ask de seversky to just make me one? and they will obviusly charge me for it b/c i did not negotiate for it.

I also want to get a small wedding cake so we can do the traditional cake cutting.

I figure it doesn't need to feed everyone because of all the dessert they have.

princes777 said the bakery that DeSeversky recommends is not good.

I don't know of any other good bakeries though, any suggestions?

I didn't even think to ask debbie if they will do a cake there for a charge. I may call her to find out.

princes777 -
what about the bakery that deseversky recommends is not good? I'm concerned because I was going to go with them.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I tried a cupcake from the recommended place this weekend, it was awful. The cake was crumbly and flavorless, terrible texture, and the frosting was the classic supermarket/cheap italian bakery frosting made with shortening—hard, greasy, and mounded up. They did have some ok-looking cakes, so it's worth stopping by—it's very easy to find, right on Glen Cove Road across from the Greenvale train station.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I don't believe that deseversky will make your cake for more $$$ - I asked.

Two highly recommended places were:

cardinali bakery in syosset on cold spring road
http://www.cardinali.net/

Dortoni's Bakery in Levittown

Rosalie also sent me info regarding another place in Suffolk. Contact Audrey's Bakery:

229 Montauk Highway,
West Sayville, NY 11796

Tel: 631.244.7288

This place was less $$, but for a smaller cake it might not make sense paying the transport fee.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

pamelarog is your DOC Rosalie? Yeah Debbie is not replying to my messages - I understand that bargains are cut before the contracts are signed, but there should be a sense of consistency.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

No, My DOC is Laurie Savino from The Bride's Choice.

And I wholeheartedly agree on the consistency thing. Especially since DeSeversky is really just starting to get its act together with weddings. It's frustrating. But worth the frustration.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Hi ladies!!

You are all so cute. I definitely will be giving a long long detailed review but not for a while. Going to wait until my professional pictures come back so I can put them in my review. DeSeversky was so awesome. The whole day was just magical. The food and service were so fantastic. Everything was really smooth. The Maitre D Patrick was on top of everything. And you seriously cannot have your reception at DeSeversky without a coordinator. I used Rosalie from Expressions Event and she was just awesome. She did so much that entire day it would take me hours to write everything she did. She was just amazing. I definitely would hire her again in a heart beat. And to the person who said the bakery recommends is not good I will have to disagree with. My cake was gorgeous and tasted awesome. Severio the owner has been on the food network and has won baking competitions in Las Vegas for wedding cakes. I will post a picture of my cake and lots more pictures later tonight. Work is a little hectic. So ladies I am here to help. Any questions you have please ask. I have gotten so much help from LIW I want to give back. And every single one of my guests said the food was amazing and they just loved the feel and atmosphere at DeSeversky.

Couldn't keep you in suspense. Here is my cake. I was so happy with the way it came out. It is white fondant with chocolate scroll work. The inside was chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling. YUM!
