Hi Ladies, I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
They must do something so differently for wedding cakes—like I said, I stopped in to buy a cupcake (we're doing cupcakes instead of cake) and it was horrible. We couldn't even finish it, it was stale and flavorless and chemically.

princes777 - what about the bakery that deseversky recommends is not good? I'm concerned because I was going to go with them.
Hi!!! Um... My Doc told me not to go with them... I did go there and tasted something... it was 'ok' but... I think they didn't delivery a cake once or something... I am not saying don't go with them... But like the post above me... I have had better pastry at Cardinellies in Carle Place... I think that is who I might go with... BUT... the cakes might be much different... I don't know.
Anyone know about the CHOC fountain?
OH>>> and I also asked about getting a cake from them for more money... and they said no. Doesn't matter I rather go with a bakery I trust.

Couldn't keep you in suspense. Here is my cake. I was so happy with the way it came out. It is white fondant with chocolate scroll work. The inside was chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling. YUM!
Your cake looks gorgeous!!! Actually Rosalie is my DOC too... And she is the one who recommended me NOT to go there.
I am so happy to hear that everything went perfect... Thanks to Rosalie!
I cannot wait for your review... CONGRATULATIONS YOUR MARRIED!!!!!!

Kimberly: I totally saw all those pics of you- congrats, you look like you had a fabulous time, I'm glad everything worked out for you.
Question for all of you girls: Did anyone mention a tasting before the wedding for you? If you had dinner at the DeSeversky, did you get some type of discount as you were having your wedding there?
I've heard Leonetti's is good- I've heard Coppenhagen is good too. They're on the recommended list as well.
Again though, when it comes to vendors, one person may love it and the other might hate it. I hesitate to go by the advice of someone who either trashes something to death or pushes it beyond a reccomendation. Everyone has their own tastes- for example, one of the photographers I looked at is one of the most popular vendors on here- and I hated them! But everyone who has used them is very happy with them. . . I can't even believe how much praise they get. Haven't you ever been to a restuarant that all of your friends love but you can't stand? Or what about a movie that won the Oscar that you think is awful? Its all a matter of taste.
princess: I have to look at my proposal with Burton's. We're probably going to wind up adding to the proposal because I didn't factor in the cocktail tables, but I can't imagine it will be *all* that much.
I do agree with you all though, I can't even imagine not having a DOC. Mine kicks butt.

pamelarog is your DOC Rosalie? Yeah Debbie is not replying to my messages - I understand that bargains are cut before the contracts are signed, but there should be a sense of consistency.
Laurie's my DOC too- I wrote Debbie an email and she got back to me about a week and a half after it was written.
If you're feeling frustrated, you should have your DOC intervene. That's what you've hired one for.

Oh!!
About e mailing Debbie. I am crazy, I e-mail her, and then listen to this- I call her and leave her a voicemail (b/c you never go directly to her) that I e mailed her hehhee so then she checks her e mail and gets back to me right away.
I am a stalker! But it worked! she e mailed me right away for the last 2 days...
As for the Cake Mclane.. you are 100% correct! Everyone has different opinions and expectations... so no one really is right... you should just go and shop around and see for your self if you like it or not.
As for the tasting at de seversky... they gave me the money after going, JUST SAVE YOUR RECEPIT... The food was delicious!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Thanks mclane!!
Yes there are a ton of fabulous bakeries so don't feel like you need to pick a certain one. When I booked in March 04 my cake came with my package. Towards the end I upgraded and paid more for fondant. I was so so so happy with the outcome. We got a lot of compliments on the cake. The flowers petals and flowers on the cake were courtesy of my amazing florist John at Flower Michele. I made the crystal cake topper.
Now onto flowers. Ladies DeSeversky is so gorgeous you definitely need to fill it with lots of pretty flowers. John from Flower Michele did an outstanding job. When I walked into DeSeversky and saw the huge topiary of roses on the eagle table I almost fainted. It was huge and I could not stop looking at it. We got lots of compliments from everyone about the flowers. Definitely check John out if you have not already booked someone. He offers more personal service then some of the other places. Plus the quality of roses are just amazing. People that took home the centerpieces said they lasted about a week. Some pics of the flowers from my friends:
I have a lot more since I told all my friends to take lots of flower pictures. I am definitely a lover of red roses if you couldn't tell
But back to cakes. Go to different places and definitely have taste tests. Don't settle.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Thanks ladies!!! The candles really added to the feel of DeSeversky. The only thing if you use candles you need to make sure you have cardboard underneath so no wax drips on anything.
I bought the fabric from fabric.com and had the runners made for much less. The finish touch was so expensive. Would have been over $900 for everything I needed.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I am sooooooooo annoyed to find out that I should have negotiated my contract when I booked. I was so happy with the place that I signed the contract that day. Oh well.
My ceremony is going to be at a church (Kim...where did you get married??? It looks like St.Thomas??), but I want to provide my bridal party with something while we take pictures. Should I go with the hospitality station?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
It's certainly a 'nice to have'. And when you're talking $10pp for just the bridal party as opposed to $10pp for all your 100+ guests...it certainly makes it more affordable, and I'm sure you're bridal party will appreciate it. However, be sure first that they'll have time to take advantage of it while you've got them racing all over DeSeversky for the photo ops.
Again, nice to have...but if you're taking photos first so that you can all participate in your cocktail hour - maybe you skip it. Depends on how long you're planning to take photos.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I am struggling with this too. I think we'll have an 45 minutes to an hour for pictures at DeSeversky before the rest of the guests are scheduled to arrive.
The only thing I'm thinking is that the limos are supposed to have all kinds of drinks in them. We may also put a few snacks in the limos so the BP has something while they are waiting until CH starts.
However, I did notice when I was there to look around before a 4pm wedding, by 3pm they had some food out (cheese, fruit, crakers, etc.) Not sure if that was the hospitality or regular CH food.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Since we've been discussing dessert, does anyone know what kind of cookies and pastries are served during the sit down dinner? Is it an ample amount in addition to a cake?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
And the Choc fountain??
Debbie wasn't really negotiating with me and I didn't sign on the spot, I went back 3-4 times.
I don't know... I guess they just do contracts like picking things out of a hat... maybe this person will get this, but this person doesn't... It just doesn't make any sense.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I asked Debbie for the price of the hospitality station for the bridal party and immediate family during pictures... and was quoted $20 pp. Was anyone else given this high price?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I also asked what kind of cookies/pastries are served and she gave me a long list...and then told me it was the 'chef's choice'. What does that mean???
