Hi Ladies, I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

I asked Debbie for the price of the hospitality station for the bridal party and immediate family during pictures... and was quoted $20 pp. Was anyone else given this high price?
I was quoted 10pp.

I also asked what kind of cookies/pastries are served and she gave me a long list...and then told me it was the 'chef's choice'. What does that mean???
Just means there is not a set menu, it can change from one reception to another. And you can't pick and choose what you want or don't want.

Is it weird that she would quote me double for the same service she quoted someone else? I don't get it.
And when do you think the chef makes his choice? I feel like I should know in advance what will be served... I'm frustrated.

We also had the dessert cafe and I was fine with it being chef's choice. I knew anything they make is always delicious. There was SO much stuff it was awesome. I can't even remember half the stuff. I do remember carrot cake, chocolate creme pie, cappuchino type pie, cookies, fruit, lemon meringue, cheesecake and a few others I can't remember. The line was out the door for it and everything was a hit. I got to cut the line...haha.

I think you may be able to find out what the desserts will be a few weeks before your wedding, because I saw a big menu board that had everything specifically listed out for an upcoming wedding (that was a few weeks away).
I would ask Debbie. Maybe they decide the exact menu a few weeks before the event?

I really like the table numbers and the stands they sit in. Where did you get both? I also saw that you got married at St.Thomas...that is where I'm getting married also.

Questions for brides doing mansion style:
1. Are you indicating anything on your invitations on the Reception Card to let people know it's not a formal sit-down dinner?
2. How are you handling flowers/centerpieces? With so many tables are you getting centerpieces for all the tables for dinner and also the ballroom?

what is a mansion style? is it the same cost as the sit down?

Yes, it's the same price, but instead of a seated dinner there are food stations in a few of the rooms and there is not assigned seating.
Basically people can eat all they want for 2 hours and then they move into another room for dancing and dessert.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
we are doing mansion style. i am going to try and pass the word around that we will not have a seated dinner. and i am thinking of putting 'cocktail reception' on teh invitation. and i am also going to put in my program a timeline of events so hopefuly people will read that and understand.
i am also going to do small CP's for the cocktail hour. then do votives in the ballroom. but also do an arrangement on the bar and hopefuly bring in my ceremony 'altar' flowers to be used next to the fireplace or something. or maybe some flowers on teh fireplace. i dont want it to look bare, but i dont want to spend $$$$$. i might also rent colored linens to jazz things up a bit depending on how much they cost.

I got the stands at AC Moore for around $1.50 each. They are plate stands. The numbers were made by fellow bride Ang&Rich - her email [email protected]. She is super talented.
Wow - there are not many St. Thomas brides on there. We had Deacon John Ford - he was awesome.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Sorry to keep pestering you Kim...but what is AC More?? Also, I met with Deacon John to discuss details, but my cousing is performing the ceremony. Small world!
As for flowers... I am not having a mansion style, BUT I am having dinner in the dining room and garden room, and then moving into the ballroom. I am going to have my DOC move the centerpieces into the ballroom after dinner. I am also going to have 3 votive candles on the smaller tables in the ballroom. That was a huge concern of mine too, but I'm happy with my decision.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Hi Ladies. I am new to site and I am finding your posts extremely helpful, so thank you. I am seriously considering the DeSeversky for my wedding. My main concern is the size of the ballroom. I am thinking that with the 20% rule of people not attending the high end # of guests will be 150 (I'm hoping even a bit less) Can I comfortably have 150 people, sit down, with a band (on the smaller size say 6 pieces and 2 vocals) and enough room for a decent size dance floor? I want everyone dancing!!! Please someone say yes :) Thanks in advance.....

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Honestly - no that is too many people with a band and a nice size dance floor. Can you cut the list down? We had 100 and it was just perfect. I think more then that will be tight - honestly.

Thanks for your reply btw you did a fab job with your wedding, well done!
I feel I am stuck b/w a rock and a hard place here. I really love the DeSeversky but I can't cut 50 people, my list is 180. I'm just assuming that if some people don't bring dates and with no's we'll get to 130-150. I don't know what to do....

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Are you willing to do 'mansion-style' instead of a sit-down dinner? That would be perfect for your headcount.
