Hi Ladies, I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

I don't think so unless I was really impressed with their execution. I haven't had the best experiences with 'mansion style' maybe I should do some more research.... I'm so bummed. Thanks for the suggestion.
I can't seem to win, most places I have too few to meet their min here I'm too high...

Happy Bride To Be... I was in the same pickle as you...My solution is to use 2 rooms for a sit down (dining room and garden room) and then move into the ball room. I have the same guest count as you. Good luck.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
happybridetobe: I am getting married at DeSeversky in Aug. I plan to have approx 140guests and I am having dinner in the ballroom. I am also having an 8piece band. I have been to Deseversky when it was set up for this many people and it is fine. They can fit 12 at a table without a problem. DeSeversky has 2 different size tables and they will use one that fits 12 comfortably. With 12 table of 12 you will have room for 144 people and your band. The dance floor is also large enough to accomadate you guest comfortably. However, one think that I am not having is a daius table. I can not fit the etxra table even though it is small. I felt it took unecessary room away from the dance floor. So my fiance and I decided we would eat with our family and friends. I went through the same problem as you. I wanted to have my reception at DeSeversky more than anything but everyone was telling me it was too small. However, as I said I saw it set up for that many and it was fine. Also my sister's friend went to a wedding there in Sept and they had just as many people and she said it wasn't a problem. In addition I hired a DOC who has worked at DeSeversky numerous time and she said it is not an issue as well. So if you can get your list to 140 which is only 10 people you will be in great shape. In fact because I changed some things in my contract I have to garuntee 130 so I know there is no way I am having less than 130-140. So don't stress and follow what your heart tells you. If you have any questions feel free to ask because I went through the whole number game with Debbie for weeks before I decided.

Another option is to use long tables—you can rent them for pretty cheap, I worked out the total including tablecloths (which are more than the tables) was about $500. You can arrange them a variety of ways and they take up way less space than round tables, since you don't have a huge empty middle to fill up with flowers and stuff. I prefer long tables anyway—more like a dinner party!

KateB- That's a really good idea. I had never thought of the long tables. I wonder how they would be arranged? Have you ever seen it set up with them?
I was wondering if anyone has chosen a limo company yet? I have not gone anywhere to look yet and I am not even sure where to start because I have heard so many mixed reviews. Also is anyone having a bus for there guests?

Hey Girls...
Hows the planning??
Did anyone else get the letter in the mail from Debbie???
Starting Jan 1st 2006, Nothing can be left in there offices 2 days prior anymore... ONLY Placecards... It says you must arrange for drop off the day of...
So... What are we suppose to do have someone bring all favors, and slipper baskets, and bathroom baskets, candles, and I am sure I am missing lots of things the morning of???
I guess it is what it is, but it sounds kinda annoying... anyone else???

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
hey prin:
I got the letter too. I wonder if something was stolen from the office? Sheesh!
I wouldn't worry about it though, aren't you using Rosalie? I'm sure she'll either keep those things for you or come up with another solution.
I don't think I'm going to do slipper baskets.
I would like a photocube. I'm going to ask one of my friends from theknot to make me one.
My limo company is Double Diamond. I booked them trhough my DOC so I'm not worried. I know she wouldn't let anything happen with them You know, though, almost every company out there has good and bad reviews. I think limos are the hardest vendor to pick.
I think for a favor I'm going to order these cute little boxes from Bellaterra.com and put mints in them. I had wanted to do truffles but its going to be Labor Day weekend and I'm afraid they will melt. Everyone's always looking for a breath mint anyway.
I love this invite from William Arthur- it has pretty dogwood branches on it. I just have to price it out. . .
Other than that, all's well. What's up with you guys?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I am using Royalty Limos in Franklin Square. My friend and her brother both used them and were very happy. They were reasonably priced and we also got a bus for our guests through them. They also have a large selection of antique cars to choose from.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Thanks for the suggestions of limo place I will definitely look into both. I agree that it is the hardest vedor to book because you can find good and bad reviews on almost every place. It's good to know that Royalty has busses as well. I think we are going to have to get a bus because we have a lot of out of town guests.
Has anyone gotten there bridesmaid dresses yet? I went to the Wedding Salon of Manhasset but they did not have a very wide selection. I also made an appointment at Kleinfeld's Bridesmaid store but between work and Grad-school can't get there until the end of Dec. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on a more local place?
We also got the letter about not leaving things in the office. I am assuming everyone got it an something must have happened that they were held accountable for. We are using Rosalie as well so I figured were in good hands. I am sure she will make sure everything gets there. The only thing I wish we could bring over before hand would be the favors.
Is everyone giving favors? I have been to weddings that have and have not given favors. I think I am going to do the mint boxes as well. I figured people keep them longer then most things. Plus I was going to do Godiva but I am also afraid of chocolate in August.

HI ladies!
Hope you all had a nice thanksgiving. I have been out of town so I have not gotten the letter yet. I was hoping to leave stuff there the day before. Oh well. Not sure what I'll do now.
We are also using Royalty for Limos. They gave me the best rates and were easy to work with.
We are having a photobooth, so the pictures people take will be their favors. It says our names and the date on them.
I ended up getting my BM dresses at Burton's. Found them at paradise bridal but burton's was $40 cheaper. I also booked Burton's as my florist last weekend.
Still on the search for a good bakery though.

Yes... I am using Rosalie... I just didn't want her to be bothered with this... But... It is what it is.
I wanted to have a photobooth too!!!! I love the idea... my FH thought I was crazy!!!
Do you mind if I ask where you got it from and How much... Is it the vendor from this site??

Wow that is nuts about not being able to put anything in the office. Definitely put your DOC in charge of all your stuff.
I used Royalty as well. They were awesome.
I got my BM dresses from gownfind.com and they were so much cheaper then in a bridal store. They were $80 each. Simple black satin tea length with a belt and crystal clip. My BM's were so happy with them.
Thats out of control cheep! I was in a wedding last fall and my dress was like 300 bucks!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I know. They were Alfred Angelo. I was happy to find bargains where I could. And my BM's can wear them again. The second pic above was from when my sister was trying it on not the day of the wedding hence the wrinkles.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
My bridesmaid dresses are Bill Levkoff. The web site is billlevkoff.com. I had them picked out before I was even engaged! Once you find a dress you like, you can do a search through the site to see what stores carry the dress. Then you can shop around for the best price. I ended up getting them at the Bridal Center in Lynbrook for $150. Anything over $150 is a 10% discount. The alteration maximum fee is $50. Good luck!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Hi ladies. We just visited the grounds yesterday and thought it looked amazing but I was discouraged reading this board because we may have more than 150ppl and I would like a sit down dinner, live band and room for dancing.
Someone suggested that you can have a sit down in two diff rooms but I'm afraid the ones not in main dining area will feel like 2nd class guests.
Has anyone here had any experience with this venue for more than 150 ppl?
Are all the rooms open to guests or just some?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
All the rooms are open and you can basically do whatever you want. I am having dinner in the dining room and garden room and I worry about EVERYTHING and I honestly think it will be fine using two rooms. Both rooms will have flowers and will look nice...and you'll only be in there for about one hour. You can then eat dessert in the library or ballroom.
