Original post by KimberlyBride

Hi Ladies,
I want to start this thread so we can talk about DeSeversky and share thoughts and ideas. I know there are 2 others getting married at DeSeversky so far.

I wanted to have a photobooth too!!!! I love the idea... my FH thought I was crazy!!!

Do you mind if I ask where you got it from and How much... Is it the vendor from this site??

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Hi ladies. I'm trying to get an appt to speak to Debbie but she hasn't returned my phone calls. I also sent her an email as well and she only sent me a canned email back.

Has anybody else had trouble contacting her?

Any advice?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I went there Friday night because they had a dinner going on. A nice lady name Eileen showed me and FH the rooms and mentioned that Debbie had left there at 6:30pm so I don't think she is away or anything.

I left my name & number and haven't heard back yet. Needless to say, I am not getting warm & fuzzies so far...

Any comment on how she has been to deal with in your experience. Is she generally easy to deal with?

PS- edit--she called me back but i missed her. I'd still appreciate anyone's comments on how she is to work with.

Also, regarding Rosalie DOC, can somebody give me some info on costs (FM) for her? I've read nothing but raves but am frightened of spending another hunk of change....

My experience with Debbie has been similar. The best way to get a response from her is via email...and that can sometimes take a few days. I know it is totally frustrating, but she does eventually get back to you.

I forgot to add...when you DO get in touch with her, she is always pleasant. I also made an appointment to meet with her again after I booked and she took a lot of time to talk to me.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Just wanted to let you ladies know, I was there on Friday for Dinner with Dickens (it was our one year mark). It was fabulous. The food was incredible. Robert made this squash soup with no cream, he used potatos and apple cider, it was to die for. The new curtins are up, they are dark red and gold (perfect since that is my color scheme) and the mansion is decorated so beautifully for Christmas. My mom can't stop talking about how beautiful everything was. The only thing was the service was not so great. They ran out of white wine, I can't drink red, so I had to drink water all night. Honestly, I was alittle worried. Someone from DeSeversky called me yesterday to discuss how I liked the dinner and I was going to bring up the service issue. That isn't the first time. The last dinner I went to, they lost my reservation. Thank God I got Rosalie. But trust me, the food was amazing, I actually tried the Christmas goose and suprisingly I LOVED it!!! never had it before.

I am also worried. I was there last night for dinner and the service was not that great. One of the women was in a panic because she said they were short staffed (because people didn't show up!!!!) At times the service was fine ie. our plates were removed promptly, but when we ate desset, one dinner plate with leftover food was sitting there.

Any suggestions on how to address this problem?

But, on a positive note, the chef was soooo nice and the food was delicious.

At least your dishes were removed
The chef is a friend of my families and I know he is incredible, but he has made alot of changes at DeSeversky lately (new curtins, new staft, stuff like that.) I'm hoping they are just working out the kinks right now. They are not really known for doing weddings, so this is new to them. I'm trying to hit a dinner each month so I can see how things are operating. Hopefully soon everything will be smoothed out. But I'm keeping a list of my complaints and will discuss iwth Debbie when it gets closer to the wedding.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

I just wanted to give an update. I contacted Debbie about the staffing concerns I had and she assured me everything would be fine. She told me she is not in charge of events such as dinners and she personally meets with the dining room manager to go over staffing for weddings. Sooo... I feel better.

Hello All:

How are everyones plans coming along?
Thank you all so much for the advice on the bridesmaid dresses. I finally picked them out yesterday!
I also wanted to let everyone know that I stopped by DeSeversky yesterday and it looked beautiful! I have not been there since the summer and I was so happy and impressed by its appearance. The new curtains looked great. All the rooms were in fantastic shape and my FH said that they re-modeled the men's room and it was really nice. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the ladies room but maybe they will do that next.
Anyway, I hope everyone is well. Happy Holidays!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Hope everyone is having a nice holiday season.

I haven't been doing too much lately regarding wedding stuff. A few weeks ago we ordered the BM dresses and FH and I got our wedding rings, but everything else has been on hold with the holidays.

We're booking our HM in the next few weeks and ordering invites.

I still want to get to a dinner at DeSev, I haven't been yet. I don't think they have the 2006 calendar ready yet.

I'm just under the 6 month mark, so I know things will get more hectic in the next few months. And I'll probably need your help!

I'm still undecided what to do about centerpieces...

We also need to pick a cake, has anyone found a good bakery?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

We are using Dortoni's bakery in Levittown. I've heard good things about them and the price was reasonable. We worked with Rudy who was very nice, helpful, and patient.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

That bakery is owned by the same people i was going to go to this weekend! a french bakery in East Norwich. (cant spell the name??)
how does it work? do you have to set up a tasting if i have never even tried anything from there? do i find out about prices first and see if it is even doable? can i just go in a buy a slice and then see what i think? i am clueless!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Ialso had no idea what to do. We went in during a weekday (we both had off) and looked at a book they had. We got some ideas from the book and then cusomized the cake a bit. I didn't love anything I saw, but I was able to basically cut and paste designs I liked. When we told Rudy what we wanted, he then quoted us the price. We are having a four level cake- it is white, half chocolate cake, half vanilla cake. We still didn't choose the filling because there are a zillion choices. As for the tasing, we actually didn't do one because I was going on multiple recommendations.
Good luck!
