Official DeSeversky Center Thread

Hey you guys,

I just wanted to say I had my shower (a Sunday morning brunch) at DeServersky and it was GORGEOUS THERE...

The food was amazing, as was the service, and I got rave reviews from many many guests. Of course, I can't say enough about how beautiful the grounds were.

Hey Pamela,

I asked mclane the same question about the DJ. She is using Vinny from High Voltage Sounds and it's really reasonable.
I am meeting with him on Sunday and I'll let you know how it goes.

I am with you, that I don't want anything flashy. Just a DJ to play the music we want to hear and to make a few announcements.

We went to see Long Island Sound and High Voltage. . .

The guys from LI sound were *so* nice, but they just weren't what we were looking for.

Vinny was very down to earth, he listened to what we said and he didn't try to sell us anything extra. He's done DeSeversky before. . . . my FH really liked him- and he's very picky. You should look him up on here- he has lots of positive reviews. Also, if anyone is using Rosalie as a DOC, he does her office party every year. Although I didn't choose Rosalie, I think she knows her vendors pretty well.

I'm a bit on the nervous side....I haven't booked a single vendor yet! I've got lots of appointments lined up (photographers, video & florsits) - but still working appts with DJs.

I think I've found my dress, but I'm still shopping a bit just to be sure.

On a happy note - my family is going down to Virginia to spend the weekend with my FH's family. Our siblings haven't met yet. So, we're looking forward to that - should be a good time. I'm pretty sure everyone will get along! Keep your fingers crossed!

FH and I met and booked with Vinny at High Voltage Sounds. He was totally willing to work with us (we only need 3 hours) and was exactly what we were looking for.

We also booked our Photographer - Velvet Studio.

I am soooo excited

I also went dress shopping and found one I liked, but I am still searching. I am having a tough time with this. So many I like, but not one that I love love love yet.

Other than that, I feel like all the big tasks are done.

I'm so excited that you booked with Vinny! We really liked him too- he wasn't the typical cheesy type DJ that I've seen at soooo many weddings.

I read on the 05 board that Kimberly's wedding was wonderful- ppl were talking about how great the food was and how pretty the place was- I'm so happy for her, and I can't *wait* to see pictures!

Hey, guys... I'm new to the site—I was googling the name of the bakery Debbie recommends and this was all that pulled up! I actually saw Kimberly at the house on Saturday—my fiancé and I pulled in to see if there were anything going on or if we could run in to check something, and we saw Kimberly and her new husband and the photographer heading around the side of the house, so we left. It was weird to click on this link and see a photograph of the same person!

Anyway, we booked De Seversky back in June, and just two weeks ago I was feeling really awful and worried about it. I'm worried that especially once they put in the new red curtains and new chandeliers, this will no longer be the lovely, fairly simple ballroom that I fell in love with. I liked that it didn't have big crystal chandeliers or anything. I'm also a bit freaked about getting married outside of the city, period.

Anyway, I wish we hadn't signed the contract, but we're in it now, so I feel half better from all the positive comments here, and half way worse from the negative ones! I'm going to call this week and see if they can assuage a few of my concerns.

KateB: I would just call and let Debbie know your concerns... She has always given me 100% when it comes to my questions...

As for your confusion on booking Deseversky... My FH and I had the same exact concerns... but in the end I am so excited and thrilled that we booked Deseversky, I don't think there is any other place out there that can capture what Deseversky does...

I think you made the right choice... It took it a while to sink in b/c it was my FIRST BIG THING I booked for the wedding... maybe it was just me being nervous spending so much money up front that we don't have, and to know we NEED to save it... I don't now what it was... But after a couple of weeks... the nevous-ness of thinking if we booked the best place went away and the EXCITEMENT has taken over to the full effect!!!!

Don't worry... Just call Debbie, everything will be beautiful!!!

OH!!! As for the bakery...

GIRLSSSSSSSS Listen up!!!

I was advised NOT to go with them... but not from Debbie, I think I am going to check out Cardinally (sp) it is in Carle Place....

Anyone else hear anything about there house bakery???
