I am graduating at the DeSeversky Mansion! I am a PA student at NYIT and we graduate in August there! Looks beautiful! We each get a table and can invite our family for all of the wonderful food!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Awesome! Congrats!!! So excited for you. I wanted to have the ceremony there but Brian wanted to get married in a Church. The grounds there are beautiful. We are having a sit down and I have never been to a mansion style wedding. Sorry! We are having a DJ. I like them better. Plus the room is small and a band might overpower the guests. What color scheme are you thinking of?

Thanks! I have heard that a band can be overpowering in that small room, that i why i ask we will be looking for dj's/bands this weekend. i am thinking red/hotpinks/fuscia. i am thininking about renting red overlays for the tables. but b/c we are not doing seated dinner, we arent doing centerpieces so i want to jazz up the room with some color... what are you doing?

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
I'm totally new to LIW, but wanted to jump in here because I just looked at DeSeversky yesterday and fell madly in love. 95% sure we're going to book it, just want to see a few other places to be absolutely sure. But...are there any other places that can compare? Any thoughts on others to take a look at before committing to DeSeversky? Other great deal is that I'm an NYIT alum and they give alums a 10% discount!

Thats great! We love it there. My dad's an alum so we get a discount too! probably would have booked anyway, but every little bit helps right! we also looked at the Carltun, Harrison House, Vanderbilt at Dowling. But we also have only 100-110, and most wanted 125 min day, and 150 evening. so de seversky was perfect for our size, PLUS we can do the cermony any time of day. We are very excited.

I didn't look anyplace else either. I used to work in a catering hall for a few years so I know I wanted something different. Then when I tasted the food at the Valentine Brunch in Fedbruary 04 I was sold.
What color and flowers are you using ladies?

Love the red and pink theme. It looks so awesome together.
I am doing all red roses and candles. Here are my CP's.
Well...I'm sold. I just reserved De Seversky for Saturday, May 27, 2006 (Memorial Day Weekend)! We created a list of other places to look at and realized we'd be wasting our time.
Color scheme: I'm thinking a light sage or celery for the girls' dresses with platinum and raspberry/peony accents. Not sure about flowers yet. I love Gerbera Daisies but I think they are mainly a fall flower and might be out of my budget.
Any thoughts on nearby hotels in the area for out-of-town guests? I've looked a bit and am not finding much I'm impressed by.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Congrats Pamela! I am so happy for you and your FH. That place is amazing. I love the color scheme. It will be so pretty. As far as OOT guests we are using the wingate inn in Garden City. It is about 15 minutes away.
Thanks! I am obsessed with red roses. They will have candles around them too.

Kim, I love those red roses!

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
If it helps... I worked at the Deseversky Center for 3 years in college... so I saw A TON of weddings there.
They were all beautiful and If I got married there, I would have wanted to rent thier high silver candleoberas. They are SO GEORGEOUS...as I'm sure you all know. I do reccommend safty glass around the candles though...or at least tell the florist to be mindful. We had a few centerpieces catch fire! (Nothing big...just a little singged rose petal smell).
Good choice ladies! It is one of the most beautufil locations in the area IMO.

Fresh petals with three pilar candles since the tables are round. Here is the same CP with pilars on a long table with a toile runner. Also a pic of my bouquet.

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Just returned from our honeymoon--had a wonderful wedding at deSeversky 2 weeks ago-100 people for a sitdown dinner--everyone raved about the food & location--
**make sure to specify in your contracts about your arrival time & usage of the bridal suite--the day b4 my wedding--I was told I would have to pay for the suite ($250!!) & could only use it after 2pm--everything had to be re-scheduled to the hotel--hair/makeup/photo---luckily I had an awesome day of coordinator (Laurie Savino) who took care of this
**30 min before my reception began-we were informed no candles would be allowed anywhere--it was worked out-(Thanks to Laurie) but never should have happened like that right before my ceremony--if you want candles--get it specified in your contract early on
OOT guest stayed at the Roslyn Claremont hotel & loved it--the bridal suite was not clean--but the location was convenient --it is 5 min from deseversky & in a cute town
RD-was in a brand new restauarant called Thyme-down the block from the hotel--we had the 2nd floor to ourselves--the food was amazing--
more to follow-fm me if you have any specfic questions

Re: Official DeSeversky Center Thread
Hi Ladies,
I am a deSeversky bride, got married there in October.
The place is beautiful and the food is good. We had a wonderful Wedding, but it was NO thanks to the help there. They were absolutely unprofessional, and unhelpful.
Debbie was barely responsive to phone calls. There was NO bridal attendant like promised, so my Dad had to go down and beg the staff to make coffee for my party and bring it up to the bridal suite in the morning.
The chef, Rizzuto, was unfriendly, unhelpful and arrogant. The staff was COMPLETELY incompetent. And to top it off, after numerous discussions of how the cake would be decorated with fresh flowers, the cake was rolled out stark white, NO flowers at all. I almost cried, you can see in the pictures of me, that I'm trying to be happy but I'm furious and fighting off tears.
If you are already booked there, if there is anyone else to deal w/other than Debbie (who was also at the mansion, but avoided me the entire day of the my Wedding, even several people asked her to stop into my suite because I wanted to ask her something). Also, try not to deal w/the chef. His food is good, but he's an arrogant SOB.
There was no one to help me do ANYTHING. I had to wait in line to get a drink at my own Wedding. I asked them to put out a pitcher of water for when guests come in, and they couldn't even manage that. The day was spent with my family trying not to let me get upset about the failures of the DeSEversky.
The place is beautiful, which I guess they rely on that, rather than providing the type of service that you pay for.
