I am getting married in the Estate in June 2010. I am having the ceremony there as well, so the pictures are going to take place before the ceremony. Was East Wind accommodating to having pictures done there before the service? We are having a Saturday night wedding, are there nice places to take pictures before the wedding? Will we be interfering with the Saturday afternoon weddings? I'm just getting stressed over the pictures.....I'd love some feedback
I am stressed about this, too, and our wedding is December, so they will all have to be indoors.

Hi!
Would you mind telling me a little about East Wind?
WHat is the difference betwen the estate, the inn, and the country gardens?
Country Gardens consists of 2 quaint little buildings at teh very far end of the property. The cocktail hour is in one building and from there you walk across a little bridge through beautiful gardens to the main reception room. The CG are smaller and have a lower minimum along with the lowest price offering at the EW. These were the first buildings on the EW property.
The Estate is a stand alone building in the center of the property, with a beautiful Victorian decor. There is a separate room for CH along with an outdoor area as well. There is a very pretty set up for out door ceremony as well. Depending on the day of the week and time of year, the Estate tends to be priced at about the same as the Inn, sometimes a bit more. (or at least it was that way when I was looking) The Estate was built after the CG, and before the Inn.
The Inn (my personal fav) is that huge hotel with the columns. It is breathtaking! There are two ballrooms 'North Hampton' and 'South Hampton' each with totally separate entrances, CH rooms, restrooms etc. so the two weddings never collide. The Inn is a big, hotel style wedding. Huge High ceilings and gorgeous ballroom. The CH rooms are the same as the ballroom, which we didn't love. We had a lower level CH- which means that our cocktail hour was downstairs- which was gorgeous as the hotel lobby is balconied over the lower level! Our wedding was in the SH ballroom- it was amazing! There is also an indoor and outdoor 'chapel' for ceremonies. The Inn is the newest of the three venues.
No matter which part of the EW you get married in you and your guests can stay at the Inn- it's beautiful with a spa, pool, restaurant, bar-- pretty much everything you need!
Our guests were blown away by EW-- I really wanted a hotel wedding and dreamed of the Plaza or the Garden City Hotel-- but the only way we could even THINK of having a wedding at GCH was if we did the bare minimum, added nothing, and had no extra money for special touches. Instead we chose EW- added tons of personal touches and made our wedding really special!
You won't be disappointed!

Re: Official EAST WIND Thread
I got married at the Estate in July. It was beautiful. I also used With All My Heart...flowers were amazing...even yesterday someone said that the centerpiece lasted 3 weeks!!!
I also had Absolute do the uplighting. I loved it!!!
Did any East Wind brides get married at EW, and have the florist put up curtains/drapes to block the tables during the ceremony?
They told us we could have this done, but would love to see pictures. Thank you!!!!

EW brides who are getting married at EW - how far ahead are you getting there to take pictures? I.e. for 6 PM ceremony, when would I arrive?
And if you got married there, did you see FH before?

Re: Official EAST WIND Thread
After speaking with a few photographers it is clear we'll have to see eachother before the ceremony OR miss the whole cocktail hour and have to rush through pics bc you can't be late to the reception.. I would talk to your photographers to see how early they think you need to start.. I have had some say 2 hrs prior to ceremony (1/2 hr bride and bridesmaids, 1/2 hour groom and groomsmen, 1/2 hr together and family... then some extra time to brethe before the ceremony).
I e-mailed Elizabeth at East Wind and she said when you do your menu planning meeting 6 weeks before the wedding they will know more about where you can and cannot take pictures (depends on other events, I know they don't want brides running into brides etc).

Also with the pin and drape... With All My Heart Florist had some pictures of ceremonies using it in the Estate so that was good to see... we haven't made a final call on that but it does do the trick of blocking out the tables and making it seem like a different room... I would def. see what your florist has to say and if they have any pics.

With All My Heart Is not the florist we are using, but we could still hire them (for $700) to do the draping. Was hoping someone had pictures so I don't have to trek out to Wading River (live in CT now).

Hello ladies. I'm an Country Gardens girl - almost a month away!!!
We are getting married there and doing pics before ceremony so we can enjoy the CH. Ceremony at 6pm and I think the photographer and I decided on 3pm for pics. We're going to pics of just FH and I first and then the BP. Hoping to be done by 5:30 and go to the bridal suite to freshen up prior to the ceremony.
Crazy how real it's becoming!!!

Re: Official EAST WIND Thread
When I booked my wedding, the BM said you can arrive only one hour earlier to take photographs. We have a 7:00 ceremony and can arrive at 6:00. We are going to take photos at an off site location before hand, because an hour is so short, especially since everyone will have to be lining up for the ceremony by 6:45.
If anyone has info about photo spots close to East Winds, please post them!
Thanks!

I got ready at the East Wind. My wedding was at 7. The photographer arrived around 1 or 2. We took pictures way before an hour. Nobody bothered us.

Re: Official EAST WIND Thread
Is anyone getting chair covers at East Wind and, if so, are you getting them from With All My Heart? I thought $6.50 a chair cover was a little pricey - especially since we're having 250+ guests.
TIA!

FYI, I found out the answer to my own question - they don't give you the blank cards
