Official 'HEY, it worked for me!' THREAD

Original post by Noonie

I just thought of something. How many times have you heard someone say, 'Oh, I know a good trick- It worked for me'
You know- Like club soda getting a stain out. That kind of stuff. I thought it'd be a really cool thread to get started. I'll start....

To keep flowers fresher longer.....
Crush an asprin & mix it in the water! I always get at least 2 days longer.

Ran out of conditioner & have no time to run out & get more? Grab a Bounce fabric softener sheet (or any fabric sheet) Fill a cup with warm water & let the sheet stew around in it for a few minutes. Pour the water on your hair! INSTANT CONDITIONING! Works wonders for fly aways, too.

Dry lips? Try 'waxing' them. Take a piece of Scotch Tape, and apply it to your lips, then peel off gently. All that dead flaky stuff is now on the tape, not your mouth!

These are great. I keep reading and asking why I didn't think of that? Putting Neosporin on the cuticles makes so much sense. Mine have been terrible this winter and I never thought of that.

Someone said something about exfoliating the lips. I use a lip mask from Mary Kay that I love--but that's not really a trick, is it?

Oh, I just thought of one--Jojoba oil , from the health food store, makes a great conditioning treatment for the hair. If you can stand to feel a bit greasy, put it on dry hair and leave overnight. Wash hair in the morning. Or use it in the shower and just let it soak in a bit. I have also heard of adding a few drops of jojoba oil to shampoo. Oh, and it worked so well on my hair that I put some into a hot bath once when my skin was dry. It worked.

Some of these ideas I've tried and they work wonders. Especially using Lestoil on oil stains & dish detergent to get out stains works as well. My grandma taught me a lot about getting stains out of clothes - she's a stain removing genius!!!

It must be those depression era women. EVERYONE in my family calls Grandma when they get a stain. She swears by Lestoil too! Too funny!

Here is one of her tips that I used to save a carpet from red wine.

Dump a large amount of salt on the fresh stain and let sit. The salt pulls the stain from the carpet. Blot with a damp towel to get the salt up and then follow up with stain remover for any extra remaining. Vacuum and carpet is saved.

Put a little bit of powder in your hair/on your scalp if your hair is oily.

I have nothing to offer but I just learned I need to stock up on some dryer sheets! Wow I can't wait to use it on some pots and pans!

I am suprised that no one said toothpaste on a pimple!!

Be careful with this one, you can only leave it on for a little while, I had a friend in highschool leave it on overnight and it burned her skin and left a huge red mark!

here's one that fh showed me:
to get rid of hiccups:

put your fingers in your ears and drink water slowly through a straw.

or if you dont have a straw, have someone hold the cup to your lips to sip slowly

it works everytime!

Someone giving you money and telling you, you have to return it if you hiccup again works.. my dad does it all the time.. i stop as soon as he puts his hand in his pocket! heehee.. Fh does it now for me too cause when i get the hiccups i get the hiccups!!! it works EVERY TIME!!!

it works with just a penny too!
