oooooooo, coloring books, great idea!!!!!!!! But how would they look on the table, would it look too cheesy?????
I will just have the waiters hand them out after they are seated. Coloring books with crayons. But i am going to customize them with our names. I wish i can find a bride and groom in indian gear so they can color that instead of the american one.![]()
i once saw a template and thought it was soooo cute!! looking back, i wish i had done much more stuff. i was telling dh that i wanna get married again and he was like 'to me, right?'

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Thanks for the advice everyone. I am calling Ravi, Shobha and Mehak immediately!!For the sangeet, we are giving out boxes of mithai and the churiyah for the women. Not much really.
For wedding favors, I'm putting the place cards in a silver frame and giving those out with a tiny chocolate box. From my experience, no one keeps them and a small picture fram may be useful to keep a picture of your loved ones.
I've seen everything from cake cutters to toothbrushes.
Are any of you guys doing any of the pre-wedding events with the guys? Like sangeet and all?

I'm using Tandoor. His food was really the best out of all and prices were reasonable. Plus he does a lot of work for my hall.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
hey RP.. depends what you are looking for.. buffet or family style.. b/c buffet w/ bukhara is not worth it and family style w/ tandoor is a rip! both places have great food.. loved both of them.. and sitar is great too..

Gt: I'm using Shobha's..
Pree: you've got FM for the template![]()
nothing major w/ the pre and post wedding stuff.. just mendhi at my place and the customary welcoming stuff at the groom's place.. just family and close friends..
Your using the 'Shobha's' ( the chain from the city) or is it a salon just name Shobha's in queens?
hey send me template too

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
Yeah Tandoor was reasonable with buffet. I didn't want to do family style because I like the way people mingle when it's buffet style rather than sit down family style. Vinnie hooked us up because after we went there with my family, we found out that he was really close with a friend of my dad's and he was giving us a good deal, which compared to other places, it was a good deal.I was going to use Mehak on Hillside ave for mehendi but my mom decided to do it herself since her sisters from india are here and they are good at that stuff. So i didn't really care much since I'm only gonna get a little bit put on.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
they have 3 locations in the city. I been to the midtown one a few times. love it. but i don't do the brows there. I think i might try it but is $20
When you said you booked Shobha's i got all happy but i don't think the one in queens is affiliated.

Re: OFFICIAL Indian 'Desi' Wedding Thread
I used to go to Rani's across from the source mall. There is a lady dimple there and the past two times she wasn't
She made my brows look soo soo hot. I asked the lady who worked there and she mumbled. I f-in hate when they do that! So i need to put out a missing eyebrow lady alert.
Who do you girls use? Anyone to die for?

wow, so much to reply to, so little time... i hate work
gt, i go to gulzar in jackson heights and use anna. she is freaking amazing, she always has a line and there are all these other threading ladies who are just waiting around. but, she is worth the wait. i went the night of my mehndi to have them done and she had so many people waiting for her and the owner tried to convince me to use someone else, i was like no way, not for my wedding!
