This thread is great...I find myself agreeing with almost everything everyone has said. My parents are both 'off the boat' from Avellino.I've been begging my mother to cut her guestlist down because we're already over 350 (but you HAVE to invite this one and you HAVE to invite that one...don't you love it).
I still make tomato sauce in August, love that little mouse and after 8 years of being together, my FI still doesn't understand why we don't eat meat on Christmas Eve (although I'm starting to think we are the only ones who do this)!

Christmas eve is all fish for my family but my nonna knows fh wont eat fish(he comes from another planet) so she makes him a nice steak while we chow down on lobster and calamari etc..BTW new years eve is also all fish.. God forbid anyone misses either of these holidays
I missed easter last year b/c i was with fh family and my nonno cried on the phone when i wished him a happy easter

DH is Jewish and he looooves coming over for Christmas Eve. And since our wedding, my mother buys him confetti by the pound and he's in heaven.

Ro, those are the cutest baby things. I have to remember that site. Just adoreable!!!ETA: My mom got her gown at Mieka in Woodbury. They had some really beautiful things there..

trust me i'm gonna have the same issues when i do my seating next year - i have to deal with old school italians who hold grudges for everything

neither do we - i luv fish so xmas eve and new years eve too are my favorite holidays. FH doesn't really like fish just the common stuff - calamari, mussels, etc. i'm trying to get him to be more of a fish person but he's a meat and potatoes type of guy
