Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

Hey girls.....
paulsbride, thanks for all the info!!! its so great to hear good reviews of our hall I agree it sounds like it was an issue with the band more than w/ the hall as far as the viennese hour thing. I think we can request to keep the lights dim and the music playing throughout, maybe just tone it down a bit. maybe have the mc or whoever make an announcement about it being dessert time, taking a quick break and then continuing the party. (ofcourse wording it better than that lol). I agree we are paying more than enough, but I also agree that if thats what it takes to keep them on their toes, so be it.
the bride and groom totally set the tone, its so true. My fh will only be dancing to 2 songs, me and his mom lol, and i am ok with that. however me and my family and friends will be up there the whole time.

that is awesome that your work threw you a party!!! definitely embarassing w/ your boss sitting right there though lol.

cant wait to hear about the cake, ttyl xoxxo

Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

Hey girls, I just wanted to share. My FH is Russian and we asked our BM Michael if it would be possible to have some russian food at the CH. He said sure.
Then today in the mail I received a Russian magazine featuring Jericho Terrace and a whole bunch of Russian vendors. I just thought that was nice of them to do that considering I discussed it with him almost a year ago. I'm glad we have him as our BM.

Summerbride:
As far as the Russian food goes that is awesome. When we first booked I told him I was hispanic and he added paella to our menu we had also requested calamari and they are doing it, but instead of picking 10 hor'deurves (sp?) we only picked 8. But we are still having SOOO Much food....MMM...Can't wait

Jozieb0925, my sister wants to take me back there for my BP as well! When is your BP? Maybe we'll be there the same night! That would be fun. Mine is Friday, Sept 17th.

Yes, I work in the city. I work on 53rd and 7th - anywhere around there? I'd love to meet for lunch one day! How awful is the LIRR???? I hate it... Luckily we're moving to the city in a few weeks.

When are you choosing your cake? Let us know how it goes!

Hi Girls,
I am having my BP on Sept 4th. That would have been really cool if we were celebrating the same night. Let's def meet sometime. What train do you take home? Can't wait for the good ol' convention to start next week. It's going to be pure HELL commuting..

Well, I went to meet with Mike last night and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM. He is sooo great!! He showed me the pics of the new cakes and they are all very nice...I don't think you are going to be upset with the choices. I actually had a pic of one that I really liked and he said, 'usually we charge extra for this (he might have been BSing..who knows), but I will have them make this for you. I picked a strawberry/choc. pudding filling with BOTH devils food and the white sponge cake inside. You may have seen the cake because I posted a poll. The present cake has been my dream cake forever!!! He made a lot of time with me considering brides were walking in and out..and I sat down and expressed my concerns about some things that I wanted taken care of the night of the wedding. My friend came along with me and was also impressed by the cake selection. She is getting married at the NRC and she said that their cake selection is not great at all and she thinks she is going thru Audrey's..I will post a pic of the cake I am having replicated..please keep in mind...I am garnishing the cake with some rose heads and scattering rose petals and votive candles around it. I am not using a fondant because I used it for my shower and everyone complained how sugary it was..so I am doing a butter cream. I am also going to take a trip to Dortoni's to test out both..just to make sure that I def. want the Buttercream..some fondants taste ok..so I'm just curious. I also like the way fondant looks..so I'll let you girls know..

Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

jozieb0925, your cake is beautiful! We chose the square one they had with the bows around the center - so it looks similar. We had vanilla sponge cake with rasberry and chocolate mousse filling with whipped cream, not buttercream. I can't wait to eat it!

Let us know how your BP goes. It was a lot of fun yesterday. After they have you dance on a chair, they give you a BJ shot - which the waiter tried to have me take out of his lap!! Since I was with co-workers, I decided to take it off the table instead. A ton of fun though. The food was delicious.

It really is beautiful!!! How many cake options do they give you now? Do they really charge you if you want something different..even if it is really simple?

By the way, I love this thread. I've definitely learned more about JT by reading your posts.

Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

Thanks Pauls, Summer, and Treilly Bride.

Jeez there's a lot of drama on that North Ritz Post today!!!

I can't wait to go there!! I hope my work has something for me..You're lucky!!

Also, just so you guys know, here are some of the things I discussed with Mike. I am having roughly 240-250 guests at my wedding.
I told him:
I wanted one waitor per table.
All waiters MUST take drink orders.
Rolling bartenders should be ready to serve the second people start walking into the reception room.
Four rolling bars in the room.
Top shelf liquor and name brand sodas - heard complaints about this on LIW's.
Bottled water served and sparkling water (Pellegrino) on tables.

Am I a BRIDEZILLA or what???

Treilly,

I think it depends on the cake and how much detail you want. If it's really simple, prob. not. But, some of the sample cakes that they offer have scroll work and had a decent amount of detail on them.. So, I really think you have to pick something CRAZY detailed for them to charge you extra. Mike, may have been BSing about my cake just to please me or something..who knows!! I like him, but he is def. slightly salespitchy..

They offer about 8-10 options and they are new designs. I didn't even look at the old ones that they have.

Definitely not a bridezilla, you just know what you want...and don't want! I am pretty much telling them the same exact things. I've heard complaints that the waiter and waitresses don't get drinks for the guests. This is not acceptable to me. My BM promised that all they serve is top shelf liquor and bottled beers but I am going to make sure as well. Bottled water is a great idea, haven't thought of that. Now I have a new item to put on my checklist. Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the info. I want basically a plain cake with some simple snowflakes, and not too many. Hopefully they will be accommodating. I will see in a few months, though I really don't forsee any problems. They have been so great to work with so far.

Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

JT BRIDES, HELP! Ok, FH and I LOVE the Dome Room, and LOVE everything about JT. FH even said as we pulled in the parking lot 'I like this place better already' (better than Leonards). However, does anyone know if they are flexible on the payments plan? I was told it's $500 depoist, and monthly payments for 1 yr until 1/2 of balance is paid. However, there is NO WAY FH and I can afford that. I have rent, car, insurance and 2 small credit card bills each month. FH has a loan, car, insurance and 2 cc bills each month. We love it, but are afraid we won't ba able to have it. We are afraid to commit to something we won't be able to afford! Thanks!

MsKitty,
I'm really not sure if they are flexible with their payment plans. Did you try talking to someone about it? Maybe if you express your concerns to them, they will be accommodating about it. I don't see why not..

Good luck!!
