Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

Jozie

here is the cake that I wanted but kept getting big NO telling me it was going to cost extra from Anna. Now I know I am definitely going to complain and request a new BM. Everytime I think about how she was when we went (tiny bit nice--but more on the money hunger side) I get more and more angry.

Also, just so you guys know, here are some of the things I discussed with Mike. I am having roughly 240-250 guests at my wedding.
I told him:
I wanted one waitor per table.
All waiters MUST take drink orders.
Rolling bartenders should be ready to serve the second people start walking into the reception room.
Four rolling bars in the room.
Top shelf liquor and name brand sodas - heard complaints about this on LIW's.
Bottled water served and sparkling water (Pellegrino) on tables.

Am I a BRIDEZILLA or what???

not a bridezilla AT ALL!!!! Those are my most important concerns, we probably read the same post a while ago lol. here is a link to the topic that I thought was helpful...

I have heard awesome things about Mike, I really hope anna is as great as he is. She isnt sales pitchy, but she is hard nosed. I will be having the same amount of guests (300 on both lists, but praying for that 20% decline), and there must be at least 1 waiter per table!!
BTW, your cake is gorgeous!!!!! and the fillings sound soooooooooo yummy

omg jules that is the EXACT cake that i loveeeee!!!!! figures she is being annoying, do you really think we could change BM's???? I now found a square cake w/ fall leaves going up it that I think i am going with because we are going all out fall foliage, but i am sure that will be 'too hard' as well

Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

Jules,
The cake you chose is really pretty. They should not be telling you that it will cost extra to make. It looks really simple. I feel like some of the options that they offer are more ellaborate/have more work than what you are picking.

The only thing is that you will probably have to provide the votives and flowers to put on it. They told me I have to provide any flowers that go on the cake.

I would try talking to Mike.

I'm sooo glad we have this thread going..

JT BRIDES, HELP! Ok, FH and I LOVE the Dome Room, and LOVE everything about JT. FH even said as we pulled in the parking lot 'I like this place better already' (better than Leonards). However, does anyone know if they are flexible on the payments plan? I was told it's $500 depoist, and monthly payments for 1 yr until 1/2 of balance is paid. However, there is NO WAY FH and I can afford that. I have rent, car, insurance and 2 small credit card bills each month. FH has a loan, car, insurance and 2 cc bills each month. We love it, but are afraid we won't ba able to have it. We are afraid to commit to something we won't be able to afford! Thanks!

They must change their policies all the time lol. Ours was 1000 deposit, and then 7 monthly pmts of 1500. That would make it half our minimum and then u dont have to pay after that. at first i was overwhelmed by that, but i have to say I am so happy now, 9 months after booking the hall that we have paid off so much. that helped us make somewhat of a 'budget' so we know we have to put x amount away each month to pay for that as well as other vendors. Our last contractual pmt was due in aug, and we have already sent in september. We will continue to do this until we meet w/ our full min. price. I think we will be over the minimum by about 40 people at least, so that will be paid by the dead line. Only do what you can do, tell them what you can do and leave it at that. I think they will accomodate you.
btw, what is your minimum? what day of the week, time etc. is your wedding? maybe that will give you bargaining power.

FMIL left a $500 deposit and we paid $900 a month for 12 payments. It was tough on us too. But both FH and I had two jobs to make payments.

Good Luck.

Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

Julestrd, you are right, it does look like a simple cake (it is stunning! Our cake is very simple as well) My only thought on why Anna is giving you a hard time may be the size of it?? I know all of the cakes they show you there only have three layers. Are you willing to go with one less layer? Then I would say you have a very strong argument that it is not any more extravegant than the cakes they offer.

Hope this helps....

Ok, totally not JT related, but I just made my appointment at Completely Bare for bikini wax before HM - and I'm nervous!! I've never had this done before. Any thoughts?? Ouch!!

Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

We left a $500 deposit and have 12 months of $850 payments and then the rest as a bulk payment at the end . I moved in with FH and his mom for this reason. What was my rent payment is now the hall payment.

ohh youre gonna be addicted!!! I have heard awesome things about CB, although i go to my adorable little isreali lady in oceanside haahahah. Just take a motrin about 2 hrs before u go, it will minimize redness and pain ( a little lol) the first time its really gonna hurt like hell, but only for a second, everytime after that, you barely feel it at all, and that i can promise u!!

GOOD POINT. I didn't think of that. I believe all of the cakes were 3 layers at JT..so def. mention that to Anna, if you really love it.
I'm bad. I'm too scared to get a wax down there too..You're brave for making an apptment. I need to grow some and do it myself...where is completely bare? are they good?

I am willing to drop it down one layer. She told me that the flowers would have to come from my florist. I may just ask what my florist can do for the cake. Thanks for the help

As far as the bikini wax goes, I have had it done once, it hurt yes but I was kinda laughing when she did it to ease the pain. But it was awesome afterward. Good Luck, try taking an aspirin about an hour before going to ease the pain a little too.

Re: Going to Jericho terrace today, UPDATED w/Pics

jozieb0925, Completely Bare has been recommended to me by many people. They supposedly have special wax to make it not hurt as much....but they have other neat ideas such as crystal patterns you can have put on that last 5-7 days, grafiti (a pattern you choose to spray on - lasts about 3 days). I might go with the crystals for the HM.

There are two locations in the city, one in the 60's and the one I'm going to is between 17th and 18th on 5th. My appt is for Sept 16 so I won't be able to post how it goes for a while...but I will once it is done!

website is www.completelybare.com if you want to check it out.

WOOHOO JT girls! I am so glad I feel like I've learned so much from reading all of your posts! All I know is that my parents are going broke paying them every month! Our BM is Chad, has anyone heard anything about him? I hope everything is OK there...there is alot of pressure from the family because noone has been there before and if the food isn't great we are never going to hear the end of it! Thanks so much for sharing all the info! Keep it coming!

We were looking at a Friday night in July (2006), minimum 175 in the Dome Room (FH wants that room), evening. It was suggested by a friend to do an 'off' month, like Feb, but I am afraid of a blizzard and only 100 of the 175 guarantee will come. We were quited $65 for Feb, Fri nite. I just want to be happy.

I know isnt this site great!! I am so glad to see so many of us!!! In the end, they will be happy they were paying monthly, rather than oweing say 25k 10 days before hahahaha. i havent heard of chad before, but I know everything will be wonderful. because of this awesome site, we can bring our concerns to them long before and have them addressed the whole soda thing is weird, I never ever wouldve thought of that. One thing I can assure you, I have heard rave rave reviews about the food, its the first thing i hear about when i speak to someone who has been there!

jozie, you are not bombarding this thread at all!!! you all have given such awesome information!!!! i have been wondering about the whole food thing, and I will be sure to ask, but I am sure Anna will give me a hard time I am going to call next week and ask, if not, I will want another BM, I will request mike, hopefully you can change, cause she is on my contract.
also, i have heard of girls putting those bakery boxes out w/ the viennese hr for the guests, i wonder if we could do that too???
