Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

I am not latina , but FH is Puerto Rican...he really wanted a Salsa band & DJ (which would have been great ) but that was a little out of our budget... :( So we are just having a DJ. We are making them a list of all the spanish music we want played, aside from the obvious Suavamente..which i think i've heard at every non-latino wedding!!

One of our cocktail hour choices is a spanish station...which we are definitely having! Arroz con pollo and platanos!! mmmm....

One of the reasons we chose our RH was because of the spanish station.. none of the other halls we saw offered that!!

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Hey Chicas!
I'm Diana and am really glad to see this thread
I'm Mexican American, FH is Costa Rican and Peruvian.

We are incorporating lots:

Mass will be 80% in Spanish
We will have Padrinos de Boda
I will wear a mantilla veil and wear a dress made in Spain (Pronovias)
We're doing the rosary lasso and presenting flowers to the Virgen de Guadalupe.

We're also having Mariachi's perform during dinner...my Big Fat Latino Wedding!

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Hi. I'm Angela and I'm Panamanian. I too am wearing a Mantilla Veil and having Spanish food incorporated in my Cocktail Hour. We might be having our mass 50/50 english/spanish considering that all my family will be flying in from Panama and they don't speak or understand too much English.

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

I'm sooo happy to see this thread!!!!! My name is Wendy and I'm Dominican. FH is Puerto Rican.

I'm not sure about the mantilla just yet, but we will have some latin influence in both our ceremony (which will be part in spanish and part in english) and reception (music, decor, etc.).

Has anyone picked their father/daughter song...are you doing it in spanish? I can't find any unique songs in spanish other than 'Mi Niña Bonita.' lol

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Hi ladies!! I'm glad this thread was started.

IMy name is Kathy...I guess I'm 2nd generation 1/2 Ecuadorian(mom) and 3rd generation 1/2 Mexican (grandparents on father's side). FH is not latino, he's german, italian and polish.

We are incorporating the Lazo ceremony into our ceremony. Also, at the reception the introductions will be made in english and spanish and we are playing a mixutres of different spanish music (salsa, merengue, cumbia, maybe bachata, and some spanish ballads). My father/daughter dance will be to Mi Nin~a bonita

I wanted to do a mantilla viel but when I tried it it made me look too matronly so I decided I wouldn't do that.

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Hi everyone, I am so happy this thread came up. We had one a couple of months ago, but it died

I am Nelly. I am Dominican and my Dh is Black and White.
Since it was a Bi-Cultural wedding some of the Latino aspects that we used were:
Father/Daughter song- Mi nina bonita
Music- was about Half Spanish-- and I have got to say everyone was 'salza'ing by the end of the night
Cake- As a good Dominican girl we had a huge Fondant Dominican cake. (We had a Vieneese hour for guests (and DH ) that dont like Dominican Cake.
