Hi everyone, I am so happy this thread came up. We had one a couple of months ago, but it died

I am Nelly. I am Dominican and my Dh is Black and White.
Since it was a Bi-Cultural wedding some of the Latino aspects that we used were:
Father/Daughter song- Mi nina bonita
Music- was about Half Spanish-- and I have got to say everyone was 'salza'ing by the end of the night
Cake- As a good Dominican girl we had a huge Fondant Dominican cake. (We had a Vieneese hour for guests (and DH ) that dont like Dominican Cake.

Come on! Who doesn't like Dominican cake!!? lol. Can you recommend your baker please...I've been looking for a Dominican cake for my wedding Thanks!

Great minds think a like...I just posted asking the same thing...

Yes they do!

Sooo happy to see this!!!!
I have been on the lookout since i joined LIW! I'm Yoli by the way. FH & I are both 2nd Gen Latinos he is Cuban & I am Dominican.

One thing that we are doing.....

We are having a latin guitar trio to sing old spanish boleros during the cocktail hour. I know both our parents will love that!

Wow that's really nice have a latin guitar, i've been thinking of having some latin jazz during my cocktail

Other than food and maybe a few cocktails, i don't know of any other things i would do for the wedding. But maybe I will get some ideas from my fellow latinas here.

Re: Official Latina Brides Thread

Here is a picture of the cake.

It was made in Washington Heights (I didnt care how far it was because the cake is really good.)

The name of the place is Biscocho de Colores or something like that.
241 Sherman Ave
New York, NY 10034
(212) 567-4747

It came out to be a little pricey but it was definitely worth it. (Then again I didnt know cake prices)

I am not latina , but FH is Puerto Rican...he really wanted a Salsa band & DJ (which would have been great ) but that was a little out of our budget... :( So we are just having a DJ. We are making them a list of all the spanish music we want played, aside from the obvious Suavamente..which i think i've heard at every non-latino wedding!!

One of our cocktail hour choices is a spanish station...which we are definitely having! Arroz con pollo and platanos!! mmmm....

One of the reasons we chose our RH was because of the spanish station.. none of the other halls we saw offered that!!

Welcome!!!!Ooooo that sounds really good having arroz con pollo and platanos... ....You should definitely ask your dj to play lloraras by Oscar de Leon that song is one of the best..even though it's kinda old but still makes ppl dance

Hey Chicas!
I'm Diana and am really glad to see this thread
I'm Mexican American, FH is Costa Rican and Peruvian.

We are incorporating lots:

Mass will be 80% in Spanish
We will have Padrinos de Boda
I will wear a mantilla veil and wear a dress made in Spain (Pronovias)
We're doing the rosary lasso and presenting flowers to the Virgen de Guadalupe.

We're also having Mariachi's perform during dinner...my Big Fat Latino Wedding!

Hello!!!!!! I never heard of Padrinos de Boda, that sounds really interesting. Everything sounds really really nice

lol...i know what you mean...but i might get my Grooms cake from like a Dominican baker because the bakers at Valencia are terrible now and i love the fillings that Dominican cakes and Valencia cakes have. I'll probably go to Corona because that's where i live by.

Yeah Nitin is bad (for what my mom said) and even the original one in Santo DOmingo is not that good as before either
