**** OFFICIAL NEW HISPANIC BRIDES THREAD****

Original post by Mitabtrfly

NO OFFENSE to anyone else.....but hey..I had to jump on the bandwagon! Come one come all...since there are so many divisions of Hispanic...I figured I'd play it safe..

Hola!!! this is Michelle and I am 1/4 Puerto Rican, 1/4 Dominican, Cuban and Jewish!! How's that for a MUTT! Of course I say I'm Puerto Rican when asked... and in 7 days I'll have a REAL spanish name! THANK GOD..FINALLY!

Oh! It's so nice to see this.

We had a Latina Brides Thread back in '08 and it was great fun and we learned alot....then of course some drama made it die down. Take care of this thread girls. It will come in handy- especially when it comes time to pick songs, plan a bilingual Mass ect.

I'm Diana, I was married last month. Had a bilingual Mass and incorporated the Mexican Rosary lasso. For my reception, I hired the most amazing DJ- Elegancia Entertainment to do my music and lighting. I also had Mariachi perform. Out of this world- if you are looking for a good Latin party, go no further.

Wishing you all the best!

I´m glad to see there are other ecuadorians. I´m half ecuadorian half italian. I´m currently living in Ecuador!! I won´t be incorporating too many customs. My FH is from here so we´ll be doing a bilingual ceremony (Julissa Zambrano is an awesome officiant if you´re looking for one!! She´s hispanic and actually speaks both languages. Most of the other ones only know how to read certain words)

Other than that I´ll be incorporating Spanish music at me party but I know a lot of non hispanic brides who have done so too.

I contacted Elegancia Entertainment because I have the same problems as most of you latina brides. My parents want to hear good spanish music (ie cumbia and classic latin american songs, not the crap thats on Z-100 now)and have a bi-lingual MC while my FH's parents aren't spanish and need to hear the classic American style songs.

Elegancia says they cater to multi-cultural weddings and are hired specifically for mixed crowds like the one I will have in my wedding. Google them to see their web site and contact them. I will be meeting with them soon to review their songs and get an idea of packages.

The other DJ's I was considering were Ultimate Sounds because they told me they had an MC who also spoke Spanish fluently.

Well... last night I went to my RH's bridal showcase and I met with a entertainment company that is absolutely wonderful. Since I am a Latina and FH is half Latin and half Italian, we need someone that is very diverse and educated in music!! and this company is it . I have specific requests and he has all the music I am looking for!!

FM me if your interested in their information!!

I used Ultimate Sound and they were awesoe they played all types of music because we like Techno and Top 40 music besides Spanish music and they had everything we asked for. We wanted this theme from Kill Bill for our cake cutting and they even had that for us. Everyone loved our MC Janira because she brought some excitement into our wedding.

Me too!

We booked with Ultimate Sounds b/c we loved that they had DJ's from all over and that actaully knew, liked and enjoyed playing spanish music. We had a hard time because we want old Salsa, Merengue, Cumbias and a lot of the DJ companies we met with have all of the generic stuff. But with Ultimate they have experience with all old school spanish so we were SOLD!!! Yay!!!

FH is Guatamelan. So what we are doing for the CH is providing the RH with a CD of some Valses Criollos and Marimbas, so that way the families get some of their music played, because we don't want any of it played during the reception.
As far as traditions go, I am not sure if your family does this, but after the father/daughter dance we have another waltz played and the bride and groom dance with their family members. Not really into this idea so it has been a battle with mom for awhile now. What about you, any traditions that you are doing?

OMG!! Haev you ever been there before? You guys will have so much fun. You are going in time for Carnivales, so watch out on Sundays because if you're walking around you might get soaked!!! Also, while in Lima try to go to a Pena Criolla. Live guitars, singers! I have a couple of places to recommend if you're interested!
