As you can see - I am absolutely bored and procrastinating from doing work - so I made of list of past and future NRC brides so we can all know where to get info, reviews, opinions and pictures from. Hope this helps everyone! I am sure I missed some past brides and some future brides - I'll still look for more though...
Seriously!! Why would they do that? I want to go for my tasting -I have to call and see about this -

Re: Official North Ritz Club Thread
By tastings, I think they mean that huge bridal showcase they did last March. When I booked in Nov of 02' they said they didn't do private tastings.
Then more recently, they said they weren't going to do the showcase with the tasting anymore because last year it got sooooo out of hand. If anyone else was there, you know what I am talking about!! They asked that you call in your 'reservation' with the # the people you were bringing so that they could prepare the food according to the response. well, over 350 people showed up and it was a disaster. We hardly got to taste anything! You couldn't sit anywhere and the line was literally wrapped around the cocktail hour room into the lobby. but anyway--they are so accomodating, i'm sure if you spoke to someone, they might be able to arrage something!

They promised us a tasting - it is a stipulation in our contract. They told us that the tasting would be mid-week around 4pm during one of their corporate functions. Ida called me two weeks ago to see if I could come in for a tasting the next day (I couldn't) and she said that she was having one in March and one in April and none for a while after that. That is all I know....They better not have stopped doing them!

Re: Official North Ritz Club Thread
I was told you can only do a tasting on Fridays around 4pm before an event. I took off work to go.

As far as I know, they are still allowing you to do one tasting before your wedding and you can bring up to 4 people. Jennie called me about setting one up last week after I had told her my FMIL was giving me a hard time because she has never tried the food there! I think EndlessLuv is right in that they are stopping the huge 'showcase tastings' they did last year.
This is sort of off the topic but I know Amy0405 posted on this about a week or so ago (I looked for her thread and couldn't find it for some reason). I just went to the NRC on Tuesday for a band showcase and they put in a really pretty wall unit and cherrywood bar / reception desk when you first walk in on the front wall. It's very pretty but I am not sure what the purpose of it is (bar or desk) - Ida said it was to create a 'warmer feeling' for guests when they walked in (not sure what that means). They also put the grand piano in the cocktail hour room. Just thought I'd give you girls an update.
Also, I just wanted to thank all of you who wrote to me about your experiences with the NRC when I was considering changing sites. I think I was just panicking because FH and I made such a quick decision about the place (it was the FIRST place we looked at together and I am usually much more of a researcher and planner)! I feel better and better about my decision every time I go back there!
Sorry this is so long! Thanks for listening!

Thats me!! I quoted wrong on the last blank response. FH went to make a payment and saw the new bar. I thought it was for early arriving guests, to keep them out of the cocktail room while they were setting up. But that was just a guess.

Thanks for the update on changes to the rooms, Does anyone know of any extra items that really were worth the money, such as the different cocktail hour selections, martini slide, dessert etc...

Re: Official North Ritz Club Thread
I noticed that this is one of the few places that asks for a tip for the Maitre D... what is appropriate?

FH and I really wanted the shrimp cocktail - not the fill seafood station - so we got that added on. I think they said the replenish the shrimp and dont just give you a set amount.

Re: Official North Ritz Club Thread
There were definitely other places that suggested tipping the maitre'd. Some places even added it into the price!
I've heard the range of $2-$4 dollars -
You definitely want to tip the maitre'd - he arranges everything and makes sure everything is going smoothly on key - so he deserves a tip.
